Monday will be a sunny, warm day, but the rest of the week is looking unsettled and turning gradually colder. By the end of the week, daily frost concerns will be raised with lows down into the 30s.
Monday
What: Sunny.
Today will easily be the pick day of the week for any outdoor activities. Skies will be mostly sunny with just a few thin clouds, winds will be light or completely calm, and temperatures will be in the upper half of the 60s. A few places will likely reach 70 degrees. Temperatures will drop into the 50s this evening with a few thin clouds. Overnight, southerly winds will increase and clouds will thicken.
Tuesday
What: Scattered showers from midday on.
Areas of rain showers will move in from the west during the late morning and midday hours on Tuesday. The rain will be most likely through the mid afternoon, then will taper off for the end of the day. A few lingering showers will likely continue into the evening and through the nighttime hours. Southerly winds will be a bit blustery, but the clouds and showers will hold most areas to a high in the 50s anyways.
Wednesday
What: Scattered showers turning to steadier rain.
Rain showers will gradually increase again Wednesday morning, transitioning to periods of steadier and heavier rain during the afternoon. Most areas will likely see over a half inch of rainfall, and many could see an inch or more. Winds will be from the south and southeast, stronger than today but not as strong as on Tuesday. Afternoon highs will mainly be in the 50s.
Thursday
What: Scattered showers.
Low pressure will pass by Wednesday night, turning winds to the northwest by Thursday morning. Gusty winds will persist throughout the day, importing cooler air. Afternoon highs in the mid and upper 40s are expected. Scattered showers will be common, though rainfall amounts should be light.
Temperatures Thursday night will drop down into the 30s. Areas of frost will be possible, especially across the southern half of the region and in typical cold pockets.
Friday
What: A few showers.
Steady northwest winds will remain in place on Friday, but will probably not be quite as blustery as on Thursday. Still, highs will be locked into the 40s. Sporadic showers will be possible, but fewer showers overall than on Thursday.
Another chance for frost will develop Friday night with lows ranging through the 30s, similar to the night before.
Saturday
What: A few showers.
Not much will change for Saturday with northwest winds, chilly temperatures, and some scattered showers. Just how many showers are still hanging around by this time remains to be seen, so there is still a chance that some areas may end up dry.
Saturday night will be similar to the previous two with patchy frost possible. Should skies clear out at all, even colder nighttime temperatures would be possible.
Sunday
What: A few showers.
Like Saturday, there may still be a few shower lingering on Sunday. Winds will turn more westerly and should see an increase in speed. Losing even some of the northerly component off of the wind should allow temperatures to at least get near 50 degrees.
Frost is currently not expected Sunday night, or in the week to follow.
Next Week
Our overall pattern of unsettled weather and near or below average temperatures will likely persist into next week as well. The day to day specifics are too uncertain, so there may be a dry, mild day mixed in here or there, like today is. But generally speaking, the prototypical cool, wet start to May looks likely again this year.
