After a sunny and mild day today, temperatures will retreat through the weekend before returning to around 60 degrees next week. Saturday will be a rainy day, but the other chances for rain over the coming week are mainly low-impact showers.
Thursday
What:Â Sun and clouds.
Today will have plenty of sunshine with only some thin clouds mixing in from time to time. Winds will remain from the north throughout the day, but generally will be light. Temperatures will be warmest across the Southern Tier and Genesee Valleys, where mid 60s are likely. Areas north of the Thruway and east of I-81 will stick to the upper 50s. Widespread low 40s are expected tonight.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday will also be sunny and dry, but there will be a slight increase in cloud cover compared to today. A light north wind will blow with temperatures retreating. Highs near Lake Ontario may have a hard time getting above 50 degrees, while parts of the Southern Tier will manage to hit 60 degrees. Most areas should be somewhere around the mid 50s. Clouds will slowly increase Friday night, holding temperatures to the mid 40s.
Saturday
What: Periods of rain.
Low pressure will slowly track along a frontal boundary on Saturday, leading to showers and periods of steady rain. The day as a whole looks rather like a washout, with a few areas even seeing over an inch of rainfall. Most areas should see at least a half inch. Temperatures will be held at bay with the rain with highs generally not reaching 50 degrees.
Sunday
What: More clouds than sun. A few early showers.
A few showers may linger into Sunday morning, but most of the day should be dry. Clouds will remain tough to break up, but the chances for some sunshine will increase through the afternoon. Light east winds are expected with highs returning to the mid 50s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to the upper 30s and low 40s, but the chance for some patchy frost in cold pockets will need to be monitored.
Monday
What: Sun and clouds.
The weather should fully clear out by Monday with ample sunshine and temperatures in the low 60s. Winds are expected to be light and variable.
Tuesday
What: Scattered showers late.
Scattered rain showers will be back in the forecast by Tuesday, though mainly late in the day. Temperatures will probably be around 60 degrees.
Wednesday
What: Scattered showers.
Scattered rain showers will be more common on Wednesday, but at this time, a steady and/or heavy rain is not expected. Temperatures will be steady, coming in around 60 degrees again.
Later Next Week & Beyond
Unsettled weather looks like it may continue into next weekend with temperatures mainly in the 50s. Early next week, there may be some slightly cooler air. If skies clear on any given night, frost concerns will be raised. Temperatures into early May do no look as though they will significantly warm up. However, these temperatures are close to the climatological averages and are nothing out of the ordinary.
