Mother’s Day Weekend will continue to see slightly cool temperatures, though some areas should manage to reach or exceed 60 degrees on Saturday. Several small weather systems will bring some chances for sporadic rain showers, but there should also be some daily dry time with sun and clouds. Cool temperatures are expected next week, especially early on, with a chance for frost Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Friday
What: Morning showers.
A small weather system is bringing an area of showers through the Finger Lakes Friday morning. By noon, most of the area should be dry with a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon. A stray pop-up shower this afternoon cannot be ruled out, but anything that falls should be light and brief.
Winds will be light from the west at around 5 mph. Afternoon highs will mostly be in the mid 50s. Winds will turn southerly Friday night and clouds will increase, holding temperatures mostly in the low 40s overnight, though a few places may dip into the upper 30s for a time this evening.
Saturday
What: A few showers.
A weather system will pass to the south on Saturday. Some showers will likely make it this far north, with the chances for rain decreasing from south to north across the region. The morning hours will have the best chance for these showers.
South winds around 10 mph will push highs to near 60 degrees. Nighttime temperatures will then drop only to the upper 40s with an evening round of showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder.
Sunday
What: Sun and clouds. Maybe some early showers.
Yet another small system will pass nearby early Sunday. It will be a close call for some rain showers, especially across the southern half of the region during the morning hours. Dry weather and some sun is more likely for the afternoon. Winds will be from the west-northwest at around 10 mph with an afternoon high in the mid and upper 50s. Nighttime temperatures will fall to the upper 30s and low 40s. A few cold pockets could see some patch frost.
Monday
What: A few scattered showers.
Monday will have a mix of sun and clouds and just a small chance for a stray spit of rain. Most areas should end up staying dry. Temperatures will continue to retreat, with highs in the low 50s and northwest winds over 10 mph at times.. Overnight lows will reach the mid and upper 30s with pockets of frost possible beneath partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.
Tuesday
What: Scattered showers.
Tuesday will have a higher chance for some scattered showers. At this time, it does not look like a steady, all day rain, though, and there is a chance some areas may stay dry. Temperatures will most likely be in the mid 50s.
Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds. A few showers
Wednesday mostly looks dry, but a few stray shower cannot be ruled out, especially this far in advance. Temperatures will continue to remain in the 50s.
Thursday
What: Scattered showers.
Warmer air will start to push in around Thursday, which may lead to an increase in the shower activity or even a period of steadier rainfall. The details remain highly uncertain this far in advance.
Next Weekend & Beyond
Temperatures are expected to creep upward through next weekend with highs in the 60s more likely. By early next week, some places may be near 70 degrees. Precipitation is too uncertain to pin down, though that also means that there are no large, major weather systems expected at this time.
