Scattered morning showers will transition to more widespread rain this afternoon. A few more showers will be possible on Thursday before dry weather settles in for Friday and the majority of Saturday. Another rainy day may be ahead for Sunday.

Wednesday
What: Returning rain
A few showers dot the radar early Wednesday morning. Not much change is expected through the morning hours. A wave of moisture will rotate around the low this afternoon, coming at us from the north-northeast. Showers will begin to increase during the midday and early afternoon, and some areas will see the showers consolidate into steady rain during the latter parts of the afternoon. There may be a few embedded downpours, which could push localized rain amounts over an inch for today. Most areas should see well under an inch, though. The showers will begin to taper off by mid-evening, becoming scattered to isolated overnight.
Temperatures will be near or generally just below 70 degrees. Dewpoints will be in the mid and upper 60s. Winds will be from the northwest around 10 mph or slightly higher at times. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s.
Thursday
What: Scattered showers.
Scattered showers will be possible on Thursday, especially over the eastern half of the region. Showers will be most likely early on in the morning, then again during the afternoon. A thundery downpour in the afternoon cannot be ruled out, mainly in the vicinity of I-81. Some areas will not see any rain on Thursday, especially west of Seneca Lake.
Winds will be similar to Wednesday, coming from the north-northwest around 10 mph. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 70s with dewpoints in the low to mid 60s. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s and low 60s.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday looks dry across our area with a mix of sun and clouds as low pressure weakens and moves further east, away from the area.
Winds will be from the northwest around or just over 5 mph, turning light and variable late in the day. Afternoon highs will be around 80 degrees with dewpoints remaining in the low and mid 60s. Nighttime temperatures will be in the low 60s.
Saturday
What: Clouds, some sun, a few late showers.
The next weather system will begin to approach the region on Saturday with an increase in cloud cover. Some sun will still shine, especially in the morning hours. Rain showers may move in, but probably not until near or after sunset.
Winds will be from the south around 5 mph, helping afternoon highs into the low and locally mid 80s. Humidity levels will remain consistent with dewpoints in the low and mid 60s. Overnight lows will drop to the mid 60s.
Sunday
What: Rainy
The weather is trending rainier for Sunday with numerous showers or some steadier rain becoming increasingly likely. At this time, the chance for thunderstorms will likely be limited to some embedded thundery downpours. Rain amounts are highly uncertain and will likely be variable across the region, but some areas could see an inch or more.
Sunday’s winds will be from the south at around 5 mph most of the day, but will turn to the north with similarly low speeds late following the passage of a cold front. Afternoon highs may depend on just how rainy it gets, but should be held back into the 70s. Humidity levels will come up with mainly upper 60s dewpoints. Nighttime temperatures will be in the mid 60s.
Monday
What: Sun and clouds.
Monday is trending the opposite direction as Sunday, with no rain and a mix of sun and clouds. The chance for a couple morning showers cannot be totally discounted yet, but is becoming less likely. Light north winds are expected with highs in the upper 70s and overnight lows in the low 60s.
Tuesday
What: Sun and clouds.
Sunshine and dry weather is expected next Tuesday with highs returning to the low 80s. Winds will be light and variable, if not calm.
Later Next Week
Precipitation chances will increase during the second half of next week, but the models have yet to come to a consensus on which days will be the most favored for rain and possibly thunderstorms. Temperatures will likely be mild, sticking near or a bit above 80 degrees. Rain chances will remain elevated into next weekend.
