Wednesday
What: Sunny, late clouds
Today will be a sunny, warm day. Skies will be mostly clear through the morning and early afternoon. Gradually, some thin clouds will start to work in from the west. These will increase and thicken after sunset, with scattered showers pushing into the area after midnight. South winds will blow with speeds around 10 mph. Combined with the sunshine, the wind will push most areas in the low and mid 70s. Wind speeds will increase a bit more tonight. It will be a very mild night with overnight lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.
Thursday
What:Â Morning rain showers, afternoon sun
Rain showers are likely Thursday morning, continuing from the overnight period. Some prolonged showers or perhaps a downpour or two will also be possible, but rain amounts will generally stay under a quarter of an inch. The rain should diminish by midday and sunshine will increase during the afternoon. Winds will be from the southwest at 10-15 mph. Late in the day, winds over the northern Finger Lakes may turn to the west or even northwest, but this will be brief with light south winds reestablishing themselves after sunset. Many areas will still make it to around 70 degrees for a couple hours in the afternoon. Nighttime temperatures will fall back to the upper 40s and low 50s.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds, late showers possible
Friday will be sunny much of the day, but later on, clouds will start to increase. A few showers may even sneak in around sunset and into the evening hours, particularly over the northern Finger Lakes. Winds will be from the south around 5 mph until they turn to the southwest late in the afternoon. Another shift to the northwest is expected Friday night. Afternoon highs will be cooler, but still on the milder side, reaching the low and mid 60s. Nighttime temperatures will drop into the mid 40s.
Saturday
What: Scattered showers
An area of low pressure will pass over or just south of the Finger Lakes on Saturday. This should keep skies rather cloudy with occasional rain showers. The chances for some periods of steadier rain and rain amounts over a quarter of an inch will increase if the low passes just to our south. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph, but the direction may be variable as the low passes through. In the end, winds will end up from the northwest. High temperatures will be in the low and mid 50s, the first day of a new, extended temperature pattern. Overnight lows will range from the mid 30s to the low 40s.
Sunday
What: Sun and clouds
Most of Sunday will be a mix of sun and clouds. There is still a little uncertainty about whether or not a few showers may slip into the area late. Winds will be westerly at 10-15 mph with some occasional jogs to the northwest and/or southwest. Temperatures will not change from Saturday, with highs in the low 50s and overnight lows ranging from the mid 30s to low 40s.
Monday
What: Scattered showers, blustery winds
Monday is looking cloudy and a bit showery. None of the precipitation is looking overly heavy, but it may linger off and on through the day. A few higher elevations in the eastern Finger Lakes may see a couple wet snowflakes mix in early. It will be blustery with northwest winds of 15-20 mph and gusts of 30-40 mph possible. Afternoon highs will remain in the low 50s with lows in the upper 30s on average.
Tuesday
What: Sun and clouds
Tuesday will be similar to Sunday, with a mix of sun and clouds and dry weather expected for the most part. There is also some uncertainty regarding the chance for a few late showers. Winds will still be a bit blustery, though probably not quite as strong as on Monday and with a more west-southwesterly direction. Temperatures may rise a couple degrees for a high in the mid 50s.
Late Next Week
Wednesday may have a couple more showers, but the rest of next week is looking dry at this point. Temperatures may try to come up a bit toward next weekend and beyond, but uncertainty is high and 50s may remain the most likely scenario.
