11 AM Radar Update

Severe thunderstorms capable of damaging winds and brief tornado spin-ups is moving through the heart of the Finger Lakes, stretching from about Syracuse to Bath.

A tornado warning remains in effect for the area near and just west of Trumansburg. Radar has given strong indication that a tornado may be on the ground.

Additional tornado warnings could pop up along the line anywhere at any time. Ultimately, though, damaging winds are a greater risk because they will be much more likely than a tornado and capable of equal damage.

The severe threat will diminish after the line moves through and the tornado watch will likely be cancelled for our area by the early afternoon.

11:15 UPDATE: Tornado warning for northern Tompkins, Cortland counties, including the city of Cortland… and my house.
