The thunderstorm complex I mentioned in this morning’s forecast is now located over southwestern NY and western PA. The northern edge of the line has developed a small low pressure system that is showing up as a spiraling feature on the radar.
Just ahead of this low pressure is where the most intense thunderstorms have been with numerous reports of wind damage across far southwestern NY and northwestern PA.
A small severe thunderstorm watch has been issued across the southern FLX for these storms as they continue to track eastward.
Conditions are only marginally favorable for severe weather in our area, but scattered damaging winds will continue to be possible. Isolated flash flooding will also be a concern. The closer to the NY-PA State Line, the greater the risk will likely be.
The watch has been issued until 7 PM and includes counties in Pennsylvania not shown on the map due to a program glitch. However, our threat will be focused on the next 1-3 hours and should be over well before 7 PM.
