Monday Midday Severe Update

Severe thunderstorm warnings continue for much of the Finger Lakes early Monday afternoon as a line of storms moves across the Finger Lakes.

1:10pm update- The severe thunderstorm line continues across the Finger Lakes, with warnings expanding east along the line. A Flash Flood Watch has also been issued for areas from Steuben to Oneida counties.

12:00 noon post-
A line of strong thunderstorms is moving into the Finger Lakes late Monday morning. This line has prompted severe thunderstorm warnings and even a tornado warning early in western New York.

This line will continue tracking east across the Finger Lakes through the midday and early afternoon hours. Strong, damaging winds may be possible with parts of the line. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out either.

The Storm Prediction Center is considering a watch for the Finger Lakes. Atmospheric conditions are not overly favorable for widespread severe weather, but there is just enough energy in the atmosphere to produce some short lived, but possibly intense thunderstorms.

Continue to monitor the latest conditions. I will continue to update through the day, as more thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and evening.
