Temperatures will rise into the upper 60s for much of the Finger Lakes on Wednesday.
Warm Weather Wednesday
Temperatures are starting Wednesday well above normal. Most places are seeing temperatures in the 50s or upper 40s early this morning.
A south wind out ahead of the next storm system is helping to push warm air north into the Finger Lakes. Add in a little sun this morning and afternoon, and temperatures will really take off.
Temperatures will rise well into the 60s by noon time today. Afternoon highs will be even warmer. Most locations will top out in the mid to upper 60s.
Reaching 70 degrees is not out of the question for some areas. This is most likely to occur from the Southern Tier into the central Finger Lakes. Places like Elmira and Penn Yan have a real shot at reaching at least 70 this afternoon.

Rain Moves In Overnight
A few rain showers will start to show up on radar this afternoon. These showers will be light and widely scattered at first.
Widely scattered showers will persist into the evening before they start to become a bit more widespread towards midnight.
By dawn on Thursday, an area of widespread rain will start to move into the Finger Lakes from west to east. A few hours of steady rain is likely as this area pushes through.
The steady rain will continue through much of the morning, but will begin to exit the area by the midday hours. Only a few widely scattered showers will linger for Thursday afternoon.
Rainfall amounts for most of the Finger Lakes should be over a half inch for this event. It is unlikely, however, that rain totals will get to or exceed one inch.
Cooler Air Returns
The steady rain will mark a change in the air mass controlling the Finger Lakes.
Before the rain sets in Thursday morning, temperatures will remain quite mild. Overnight temperatures will only drop to the upper 50s throughout the Finger Lakes.
However, as the rain moves through, colder air will start to stream in on gusty northwest winds.
Noontime temperatures will drop to around 50 degrees Thursday. The temperature may rebound a couple of degrees for low 50s during the afternoon hours.
By Friday morning, many areas will be in the 30s. Temperatures on Friday will struggle to even rise to the mid 40s, despite increasingly sunny skies.
Temperatures will moderate some for the weekend, but the general pattern over the next week or so looks to be set up for continued swings between warmer and colder temperatures.
