After a lull in the weather this evening, a potential snow squall will bring more wind and cold in on Friday.
Evening Weather Forecast: March 2 transcript
This is Finger Lakes Weather meteorologist Drew Montreuil with your Thursday evening weather forecast update for March 2nd, 2017.
After skies cleared earlier this afternoon, clouds and a few scattered snow showers are moving back into the region out ahead of the next weather system. A few snow showers will be scattered throughout the night and into early Friday. It will be a chilly night, with lows dropping down to about 20 degrees. The wind will finally taper off, though, at least for a little while.
A reinforcing shot of cold air is expected to move into the Finger Lakes on Friday. This cold front may produce a heavy snow squall that will track from west to east across the Finger Lakes during the late morning or midday hours. Poor travel conditions would be possible should this squall develop. Regardless, winds will whip up again behind the front as temperatures fall during the afternoon. Top gusts Friday into Friday night will be in the 30-35 mph range.
Stay warm on this chilly evening and check back for updates on the squall potential in the morning.
