Evening Weather Forecast: March 7 Audio Transcript
This is Finger Lakes Weather meteorologist Drew Montreuil with your Tuesday evening weather forecast update for March 7th, 2017.
Another batch of rain has cleared out of the Finger Lakes and the next few hours should be primarily dry and quiet. However, the region is not done with the rain quite yet.
A narrow band of heavy downpours and gusty winds will develop along a cold front that will push through the Finger Lakes before midnight tonight. This line of rain and wind should move through Rochester just before 10 pm, Geneva and Penn Yan by 11 pm, and Ithaca, Cortland, and Syracuse around Midnight.
The front may be preceded by an hour or two of steadier showers, especially across the eastern Finger Lakes, with temperatures remaining near or above 50 degrees. Behind the front, temperatures will quickly tumble through the 40s and into the upper 30s. A couple more hours of showers are likely, and some snow may mix in over higher elevations with a dusting possible.
A few intermittent showers will be possible on Wednesday as well, but the big story will be the wind. Wind Advisories and Warnings are in place for the entire FLXWeather area with the strongest gusts, in excess of 50 mph, expected across northwestern areas.
Check back Wednesday morning for more details on the wind and the gradual slide in temperature to end the week. Have a nice evening.
