Weather quiets down until Wednesday

Just a Couple Showers

The seemingly never-ending parade of thunderstorm inducing weather systems will finally let up, at least until Wednesday.

One final piece of energy is working through the Finger Lakes this morning. Scattered showers dot the region in response to this energy, but there are no thunderstorms.

This rain should dissipate and move east by the mid-morning and sunny skies will return.

The rest of Monday should be mostly dry. A stray, isolated shower cannot be totally ruled out this afternoon. Any rain should be nothing like the last several days, if any develops at all.

Temperatures will push into the low 80s this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds.

A quiet overnight period and quiet Tuesday are expected as well. The parade of systems will shift far to the south, keeping our rain chances near zero.

High temperatures will warm a bit with mid 80s more likely Tuesday.

Back to Storms, then Cool

Before the sun is up on Wednesday, rain and storms will be pushing back north into the Finger Lakes.

After the initial batch of rain early in the day, showers and storms will probably redevelop for the afternoon.

The chances for strong storms may depend on how quickly the morning rain departs and what sort of sunshine can work out before the new storms develop.

Precipitation should dissipate after sunset but flare up again later Thursday morning. This will be in response to a strong cold front. Once the front passes, the chances for storms will end.

Temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will top out in the upper 70s. Highs will drop to the low 70s for Friday and the weekend as cool air settles in behind the front.

Most of the weekend should be dry, though a shower or two will be possible, especially on Sunday.

Temperatures will moderate slightly next week, but should stay in the 70s.
