Friday Noon Storm Update

finger lakes weather update noon friday february 7 2020Noon Weather Updates

Our winter storm continues, but the heaviest snow is now falling east of the Finger Lakes region.

Snowfall rates will continue to decrease this afternoon, but many areas will continue to see snow into the early evening hours. Another few inches will be possible, especially near the shore of Lake Ontario and in the I-81 region.

Winds will increase over the next few hours with gusts of 30-40 mph. This will create poor visibility, blowing and drifting snow, and some isolated power outages due to the weight of the snow and ice.

Primary roads should be in decent shape Saturday, though rural roads will still be prone to some drifting. Cold temperatures in the single digits and teens will also decrease the effectiveness of road salt.

Please let me know how much snow you have gotten so far. Be sure to include your location!

We had 9″ as of about noon in Ellis Hollow, some places it was 11″. We’ve probably gotten an inch or two since then.

Drew, I missed the survey. One thing that would be helpful would be to have a timestamp on your initial posts (you seem to always mention the time when you do updates) and on the comments.

Thanks, your forecasts are very helpful
