Weekend Weather Forecast
The weather system that brough the strong winds and heavy rain to the Finger Lakes yesterday is pulling away.
Neither heavy rain nor strong winds will be a concern today. However, clouds and a few spotty showers will continue throughout the day.
There will be a few breaks of sunshine, but most of the day will be overcast. The best chances for rain will come early this morning over the eastern half of the Finger Lakes, and again late this afternoon.
Any rain that falls will be in the form of scattered, brief showers.
Winds will be from the northwest today with gusts to 25 mph. Despite the wind direction, temperatures will be just a couple degrees shy of the average high, topping out in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.
Skies will clear tonight, but thin clouds will work back in after midnight. Saturday will have a mix of sun and clouds.
Saturday’s wind will be from the northwest and west early but will go mostly calm in the afternoon as a small high pressure moves overhead. A push of warmer air will trigger a few showers late in the day with scattered rain continuing through Saturday night into early Sunday as a small system passes by.
The clouds should then break up again for the second half of Sunday with winds turning back to the northwest.
Despite the clouds and winds this weekend, temperatures will be near or even a touch above average. Highs Saturday will reach the low 60s with at least mid 60s on Sunday.
Cooler Next Week
Cool air will gradually filter into the region through Sunday night and Monday. High temperatures Monday will be in the low 50s.
Cloud will also thicken back up and another round of showers will be possible on Monday. None of the rain is expected to be heavy.
Tuesday will be cloudy and cool but should remain dry. Look for highs around 50 degrees. Temperatures will climb slowly after that, with low 50s Wednesday and upper 50s Thursday.
Friday will see a return to the 60s before another cool shot moves in for next weekend.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week should be dry with at least partial sunshine. Saturday next weekend is looking wet.
