Routine Summer Weather
High pressure will pass through the region today, keeping most of the region quiet through today.
There is a small disturbance riding along the jet stream just south of the high pressure system. This feature will lift northeast toward our region late today. A shower or two across the southern half of the region cannot be ruled out as a result.
Otherwise, look for a mix of sun and clouds today. Winds will be a bit lighter than yesterday, coming from the northwest and north at 3-7 mph.
High temperatures will be close to the seasonal average in the low 80s. A few areas may sneak into the mid 80s while higher elevations stick in the upper 70s.
Clouds will become more common tonight, and a few more showers may even pop up at times. This will be most likely east of Cayuga Lake.
Wednesday will bring the threat for some scattered thunderstorms, though the evolution of the day remains somewhat uncertain. The best chance for thunderstorms will be after 4 PM. There will be a small threat for some isolated severe storms.
High temperatures tomorrow will depend on how the cloud cover evolves through the day, but low and mid 80s look to be the most likely temperatures.
Late Week and Weekend Weather
Clouds and showers will linger Wednesday night and into Thursday. Some breaks of sunshine are likely as well.
The thunderstorm chances on Thursday are minimal and most of the rain showers in our area will not have lightning.
High temperatures will mostly be in the low 80s on Thursday, but if more sunshine works through the clouds, mid 80s will be more common.
A few final showers will dot the region early Friday before dry air works into the region. The afternoon should be increasingly sunny. Highs will again be in the low-mid 80s.
The weekend’s weather looks rather quiet and increasingly warm.
The rain chances for both Saturday and Sunday are very low, but not quite zero at this early vantage point. Highs on Saturday should range from 85 to 90 degrees with upper 80s and low 90s on Sunday.
A cold front will approach on Monday for our next chance for thunderstorms. Much of next week looks to have temperatures in the 75-85 degree range.
