Noon Wednesday Thunderstorm Update

Thunderstorms this morning over Michigan produced severe hail and damaging winds. These storms are now moving into Canada. The weather models, for the most part, missed or vastly underestimated these storms.

While there remains uncertainty in whether these storms will be able to maintain themselves into the afternoon, so far the unstable air necessary for thunderstorms is keeping pace with the storms themselves.

For the Finger Lakes, this means we have to keep a close lookout on these storms over the next few hours as they track east. Our chances for daytime thunderstorms in the late afternoon, as well as severe weather, are higher than they appeared on the models this morning.

I will continue to monitor these closely!
