Outlook for the Week
Happy Independence Day! Here are a few quick updates on the weather today and for the rest of the week.
Rain chances have dropped for today, though there are a few stray showers around early this morning, especially in the Ithaca area. These showers should diminish by the mid-morning hours. Cloud should also transition from widespread, blanketing low clouds this morning to fair weather clouds mixing with sunshine this afternoon.
All in all, it should be a fine day for outdoor festivities. Winds will remain light from the north and northwest, but temperatures will be warm with highs in the low and mid 80s. Dewpoints will still be muggy, but not quite as much so as the past few days.
Skies tonight will clear out, though some patchy fog will be possible well after midnight and into early Wednesday.
I’ve gone ahead and added a small chance for a few stray showers popping up Wednesday afternoon. Most areas will probably not see rain, and those that do will only see brief, light amounts. This could also play out again on Thursday afternoon, but the confidence is low.
It is still expected to turn hot, with mid and upper 80s on Wednesday and upper 80s and low 90s on Thursday.
A cold front will move through on Friday with showers and thunderstorms. I continue to monitor this closely but still do not expect a major severe weather event.
Temperatures behind the front will settle in the low 80s through the weekend. A few showers may be possible Saturday, with a better chance for showers and storms on Sunday.
Next week’s rain chances are uncertain, but there should be at least some rain at times. Temperatures will likely remain within several degrees of 80 degrees.
Have a very happy and safe 4th of July!
