Early Week Weather
Areas of low pressure continue to travel along a frontal boundary stalled out to our south.
Another area of rain moved through overnight, and more rain is likely on its way this morning.
The rain this morning may be steady at times, but there will be some occasional, probably brief breaks in the precipitation. This should be the last area of widespread rain and widespread showers before the front begins to depart this afternoon.
There will still be a few stray showers about this afternoon, but overall, it should be much quieter. During the early evening, there may be a brief flare up in precipitation as a frontal boundary slides through from the northwest. Most of this should be rain, but some snowflakes could mix in.
Behind the front, a limited amount of lake effect will develop southeast of Lake Ontario. This will lead to a few showers transitioning over to flurries.
Temperatures today will not change much during the daytime hours. Most areas are starting out in the mid 40s and will remain there throughout the day. Winds will be from the northwest with speeds up to 10 mph.
After sunset and behind the frontal boundary, temperatures will fall into the 30s this evening. Overnight lows will be coldest in the western Southern Tier, where upper 20s are likely. Most other areas will be in the low 30s, with a few mid 30s along immediate lake shores and around Syracuse.
A few lake flakes will linger Tuesday morning, but winds will shift to the southwest, taking the Lake Ontario precipitation out of region. This will be replaced by a few showers and flurries off Lake Erie, instead.
Generally speaking, precipitation on Tuesday will be light, brief, and sporadic. Most of the time, it will not be precipitating, and skies will just be mostly to completely cloudy. Afternoon highs will be a couple of degrees cooler than today, with low and mid 40s commonplace.
Another wind shift will take place Tuesday early evening during the trick-or-treat hours. This may lead to a few more showers and flurries, but nothing that should put too much of a dampen on the Halloween festivities.
It will be a trick-or-treat time to bundle up for, though, with early evening temperatures falling into the mid and upper 30s.

Quiet Late Week
A few more lake flurries will develop south of Lake Ontario Tuesday night into the first half of Wednesday before dissipating. Wednesday afternoon may have a few breaks of sun as the precipitation dwindles.
Temperatures Wednesday will start out ranging from the mid 20s to low 30s (even along the lake shores) and will only rise to the upper 30s and low 40s with a few urban valley pockets in the mid 40s.
Northwest winds will be blustery with speeds of 10-15 mph and gusts to 30 mph.
The second half of the week looks rather tranquil, though sunshine will remain a rarity.
Thursday probably has the best chance of seeing some sunshine as it mixes with clouds. No precipitation is expected.
Morning temperatures Thursday will start off cold with widespread mid and upper 20s. Only immediate lake shores and the Syracuse urban area have a shot at staying just above 30 degrees.
Daytime highs will once again be in the mid 40s, though a few warmer pockets may sneak into the upper 40s.
Friday looks cloudy but dry with a steady southwest wind. The wind and clouds will keep morning temperatures in the low and mid 30s, while afternoon highs should reach or exceed 50 degrees for all but a few of the higher elevations.
Saturday, too, will be cloudy but dry, at least until some nighttime rain becomes possible. Morning lows will start around the upper 30s and afternoon highs should reach the mid 50s.
Some rain may be possible on Sunday and into early next week, with a better chance for precipitation coming towards the middle of the week. Temperatures remain uncertain at this point.
