Warm Today, Less So Tomorrow
A cold front will move through the region tonight, but before it does so, temperatures will reach their high point of the week.
Skies will be rather cloudy today, but some breaks of sunshine are expected here and there. At 7 AM, most of the region was in one of these breaks, but the satellite imagery shows plenty of clouds through the Great lakes, Ohio Valley, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic.
South winds will blow at around 10 mph, turning to the southwest late this afternoon just ahead of the front. Temperatures will respond by reaching near or above 60 degrees for much of the region.
Scattered showers will move into the western half of the region by sunset and will spread to the eastern half shortly thereafter. The showers will continue until around midnight when they taper off and move out. Some spits of drizzle or a few snowflakes will be possible after midnight into early Thursday.
Thursday morning lows will be in the mid 30s. Much of the day will be cloudy with some sun working out from west to east late in the day. Highs will be in the mid and upper 40s.
Friday will be sunnier, though not completely so as some scattered lake effect cloud cover develops during the day. Northwest winds will be blustery, with gusts around 35 mph. Morning lows will be in the mid 20s and afternoon highs will be in the mid 40s.
Easter Weekend Weather
Saturday will be mostly cloudy as the next weather system approaches. Most of the day will be dry, but some late showers may start to work in from the southwest.
Temperatures will get a small boost ahead of this system with highs around 50 degrees.
Easter Sunday will start off with sunrise temperatures in the mid 30s with a few rain showers. A couple snowflakes could mix in. Rain showers will continue off and on, gradually tapering off. The rain does not look heavy at this time.
Temperatures will be in the upper 40s on Sunday with northwest winds up to 10 mph.
Monday will be spent between weather systems. Both sun and clouds are possible, but the clouds should outweigh the sun. Morning lows will start in the low 30s and afternoon highs will be in the low 50s.
Tuesday looks rainy, though of course the details on the timing and intensity of the rain are too uncertain to tell this far out. Temperatures should hold similar to Monday.
Cool air will move in Wednesday and Thursday next week before a warming trend takes hold.
