Tuesday-Wednesday Weather
High pressure will pass overhead this afternoon, bringing quiet weather to the area.
Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the day. Only a few small passing clouds are expected here or there during the afternoon.
Winds today will be nearly calm. Any light breezes that develop will be directed by topography.
Temperatures will be warmer than yesterday with most areas getting into the low and mid 70s.
The immediate shore of Lake Ontario is the exception, where highs will be in the 60s as a lake breeze develops. A few pockets of upper 70s are also possible in the Southern Tier.
Clouds and a light southeast wind will develop this evening. A band of showers and a few thunderstorms will move through during the predawn hours, with a few showers lingering into the very early morning hours.
A few locally heavy downpours will be possible with any of the storms. Overnight lows will be in the mid 50s.
Wednesday looks mostly dry, though a stray shower or storm cannot be totally ruled out during the afternoon. If any storms pop, they could have some gusty winds.
Non-thunderstorm winds will turn breezy, coming in from the west-northwest at 10-15 mph. Gusts will be between 30-40 mph.
Temperatures on Wednesday will generally be a degree or two higher than today. More areas will see mid 70s, and upper 70s and even low 80s will be common in the Southern Tier.
A cold front will pass through Wednesday night with just a few showers. Overnight temperatures will drop to the upper 40s.
Unsettled Weather
Thursday will start off quiet, but an incoming low pressure system will bring some afternoon rain showers to the area. A rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out.
The rain will probably start off scattered, and some areas may be able to dodge most or all of the showers Thursday afternoon.
Winds on Thursday will be from the north at around 5 mph in the morning and increasing slightly for the afternoon. Highs will be knocked down to the low and mid 60s with pockets near Lake Ontario and in higher elevations not breaking out of the upper 50s.
The low pressure system will stall out on Friday, possibly drifting backward toward our region. This should lead to a washout of a day on Friday with consistent rain showers throughout the day.
Winds will remain northerly but light. High temperatures will mostly be in the low and mid 50s, but I would not be surprised to see some areas fail to even reach 50 degrees.
The chances for rain this weekend are uncertain as the low slowly meanders away from the area. At this point in time, it is safe to assume there will be at least a few showers around on Saturday and Sunday, though neither day looks like a washout.
Temperatures will remain on the cooler side of things, with highs both Saturday and Sunday around 60 degrees. Saturday will have the slightly cooler morning with low in the low 40s.
Next week’s weather is likewise quite uncertain. Temperatures should mild, but when rain fall remains uncertain. Tuesday seems to have a higher chance than other days, but time will tell if that holds.
