A few showers
Low pressure associated with the remains of Hurricane Beryl and responsible for the severe weather yesterday will slowly lift out of the region today.
The low is currently situated just to our north, extending from Lake Ontario into Vermont. A wedge of relatively dry air has wrapped around the low and into our region this morning.
This has us off to a cloudy but quiet start to the day. It will remain mainly dry through the morning hours, though the chances for a stray spit of rain will gradually increase.
The afternoon will have a few scattered showers, but nothing heavy or particularly long lasting. Some areas will get through the day without any rain at all.
Skies will remain mostly cloudy, but a few glimpses of sun will be possible from time to time.
Winds will shift from the southwest this morning to the northwest this afternoon with wind speeds gentle at 5-10 mph.
Most places will not quite make it to 80 degrees today. Dewpoints will remain muggy, but not quite as oppressive, mainly residing in the upper 60s to near 70.
Skies will gradually clear tonight, but not before a few more early evening stray showers. Overnight lows will be in the low and mid 60s.
Friday should have a fair amount of sunshine mixing with some fair weather clouds and some high thin clouds. No rain is expected.
Winds will be nearly calm at the surface, but southerly and southwesterly aloft. This will push warmer air right back in with highs jumping to the low and mid 80s Friday. Dewpoints will mainly be in the mid 60s.
Weekend Weather, Unsettled Early Week
High pressure over the Atlantic Ocean will be the main influence on the weekend weather.
Saturday will have a mix of sun and clouds. A couple stray showers late in the day will be possible, but most areas will probably stay dry throughout the day.
Winds will again be nearly calm. Temperatures and humidity on Saturday will be very similar to Friday, with highs in the mid 80s and dewpoints in the mid 60s.
Sunday will be a touch warmer with highs in the upper 80s. Dewpoints will remain in the 60s.
No rain is expected on Sunday during the daytime hours. Skies should be a typical summertime mix of sun and fair weather clouds.
High pressure will break down early in the week as a couple of low pressure systems move across eastern Canada.
This should bring some scattered showers and storms back into the forecast.
As things look now, storms are most likely late Monday and in the afternoon Tuesday. Severe weather does not look to be a major threat, but one or two of the storms could briefly have some gusty winds.
It will remain hot and humid with highs both Monday and Tuesday in the upper 80s. Dewpoints will increase into the low 70s.
A cold front is expected Tuesday night, setting temperatures back to near 80 degrees for Wednesday. Like today, there will probably be a fair amount of cloud cover and a few spits of rain.
Temperatures will drop further with highs in the 70s late next week. By the weekend, 80s will start to show up again and temperatures should stabilize in the low and mid 80s the following week.
Beyond the early week unsettled weather, rain chances look low through next weekend.
