Not too hot…
High pressure over the Great Lakes will continue to keep our weather quiet while providing a slight bump in temperature.
Clear skies this morning will mix with small fair weather clouds later on this morning and through the afternoon. Rain is not expected, though a very, very small chance for a stray spit of rain cannot be completely ruled out.
With the center of the high still to our west, a light north wind will blow today. That will not have any impact on temperatures, though, with today coming in several degrees warmer than yesterday.
Many areas will get to 80 degrees today, with 70s restricted just to some of the higher elevations of the region. A few urban centers may even sneak toward the mid 80s. Dewpoints will remain comfortably low in the 50s.
Skies will be clear again tonight with low ranging from the low 60s in the north to the mid 50s in the south.
Thursday will be similar to today, though a deck of thin clouds should build in later in the afternoon. Temperatures will be a degree or two warmer, and dewpoints will be around 60 degrees.
Winds will be light, if not completely calm at times.
Quiet weather will extend through Thursday night and into Friday as well, though possibly not quite for the entire day.
Clouds will mix with some sunshine on Friday and a few late afternoon showers and storms may pop up, particularly across the western half of the region.
A steady south wind will blow on Friday with speeds up to 10 mph. Temperatures will hold in the low and mid 80s, though.
Wet Weekend Weather
By Saturday morning, incoming low pressure will be centered over Michigan, our current high pressure will be off the New England coast, and Hurricane Ernesto will be near Bermuda.
This will create a bit of an atmospheric logjam that will result in the incoming low lingering around the region for a few days.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday night and throughout the day on Saturday. It is still a bit early for specific details, however, so it isn’t clear how much of Saturday will end up wet.
Severe weather should not be a concern, but locally heavy rain could be.
Numerous showers and a few rumbles of thunder are also likely on Sunday. Again, the evolution of the rain is uncertain, but between the two weekend days, Sunday at this point looks less likely to have substantial dry breaks.
Likewise, Monday looks soggy, with frequent showers continuing throughout the region.
Temperatures will retreat as the low builds in. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 70s, with mid 70s more likely Sunday and Monday.
By Tuesday, this system should be able to move on, leaving sun and clouds in its wake. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low and mid 70s.
Most of next week looks to be on the cooler side with highs mainly in the 70s. There will likely be some additional chances for rain, but the models are too chaotic to pinpoint which days that will be most likely.
