Low Pressure Dissipates
An area of low pressure stalled out over New England will bring one more day of scattered showers before it dissipates.
To start the day, there are both some areas of clear skies, and some clouds and showers. Mixed skies will continue today, though there will be an overall increase in cloud cover late this morning into the afternoon as some energy spirals around the low and into our area.
Showers will also increase as this happens, especially across the northeastern quadrant of the region. The further southwest in the region, the greater the chances of seeing a completely dry day.
Winds will once more be out of the northwest with speeds around 10 mph.
Temperatures will vary based on cloud cover, with upper 50s in the hills south of Syracuse ranging to upper 60s around Rochester, through the Genesee Valley, and into some of the broad river valleys of the Southern Tier. Most areas will be in the low and mid 60s.
Showers will end early this evening and skies will become partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight. Overnight lows in the 40s are likely across the southern half of the region, with low and a few mid 50s to the north.
Thursday will start sunny, but fair weather clouds will quickly develop. These may mostly cover the sky at times throughout the day, but rain is not expected. Skies will turn clear again by the early evening.
A northwest wind will persist, but with lower wind speeds under 10 mph. High temperatures will range from the upper 60s in higher elevations to the mid 70s in the typically warmer areas.
Weather Forecast this Weekend, Next Week
High pressure will move in overhead on Friday, resulting in light and variable winds. Sunshine will mix with fair weather clouds, which should not be as plentiful as on Thursday.
Friday’s temperatures will continue to nose upward, with morning lows mostly in the 50-55 degree range, and afternoon highs between 75-80 degrees.
A light southwest flow will take over on Saturday as high pressure moves off the Mid-Atlantic coast. Higher elevations will be in the mid and upper 70s, but most areas will be at or slightly above 80 degrees.
Skies will continue to be sunny with fair weather clouds mixing in during the daytime heating cycle, as usual.
There is some uncertainty in the weather for Sunday and Monday, when some rain showers may become possible. If it rains at all, it will likely be limited to stray, brief showers with little impact. Most areas will probably stay dry both days, and there should still be plenty of sunshine to go around.
Temperatures will level off in the low 80s, with pockets of both warmer and cooler temperatures, as always. Dewpoints will come up a bit, reaching the low to mid 60s at times.
The chances for rain next week remain low, though at this point, no individual day can be completely declared rain-free. Most, if not all, of the week will end up dry, though.
Temperatures will also remain in the 80s throughout the week. Temperatures may climb more toward the end of the week with at least a chance for a few places to it 90 degrees once or twice.
