Early Week Weather
High pressure will take over the weather pattern across our region for the first couple days this week, bringing quieter weather after an active weekend.
Cooler air is still slowly working its way into the area behind the storm system that spawned the wind and severe weather yesterday. Temperatures will continue to fall a bit more this morning with minimal rising during the afternoon.
As such, most of the day, temperatures will be in the upper 30s or low 40s. Both warmer and cooler pockets are likely, with the Southern Tier warmest and the northern areas coolest.
Northwest winds will be a bit blustery, but nothing like the wind over the weekend. Wind speeds will be 10-15 mph with gusts no higher than 30 mph.
Clouds will remain locked in place through the morning and into the first half of the afternoon. A few spits of rain or snow will be possible, mainly through the morning hours.
Late in the afternoon, as high pressure builds in, clouds will start to break up and the day should end with some sun.
By the evening, skies will become mostly clear and will remain as such throughout the night. Overnight lows will fall into the mid 20s.
Clear skies will persist on Tuesday with nothing more than a few small, thin clouds here or there.
The center of the high pressure system will be over the southeastern United States. This position will change our winds to the southwest, allowing warmer air to quickly move back in.
High temperatures Tuesday will be well into the 50s with most areas in the mid or upper 50s.
Tuesday’s winds will be light with speeds under 10 mph and gusts peaking around 20 mph.
Scattered clouds will move in Tuesday night and continue into early Wednesday. Winds will turn to the due south but will remain light. Overnight lows Tuesday night will be around 40 degrees.

The wind will become stronger on Wednesday with speeds over 15 mph and gusts of 30-40 mph. These winds will continue into Wednesday night, holding nighttime temperatures in the upper 40s or even 50s.
A cold front will move through sometime on Thursday, likely in the afternoon. Scattered rain showers are likely, along with some continuing blustery winds.
This system should be far less potent than what moved through yesterday.
Temperatures will be knocked back to the low 40s on Friday, but skies look sunny. Gusty winds in the morning will gradually subside.
Unsettled weather is possible for the weekend, with Saturday likely warmer than Sunday. There could be some showers on Saturday and some localized lake effect snow on Sunday, especially in the morning and midday hours.
