Late Week Weather Forecast

A cold front slid through the area last night, and high pressure from Canada will take over our weather for a couple of days.

Today, with the high to our northwest, cooler and less humid air will move in on north winds. Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph and will be strongest during the afternoon hours.

Dewpoints will drop from the mid 60s this morning to the low 60s and upper 50s this afternoon. Temperatures will top out in the low and mid 80s.

Skies will be a mix of sun and summertime fair-weather clouds. A stray spit of rain cannot be totally ruled out, mostly over the southeastern corner of the Finger Lakes. Any rain that does fall will be brief and light.

Clear skies tonight will allow temperatures to drop back into the upper 50s and low 60s. A few colder pockets will dip into the mid 50s.

The high pressure system will pass overhead tomorrow, keeping the weather quiet. Skies will again be a mix of sun and clouds, and generally no rain is expected.

With the high overhead winds will be light and variable.

Losing the north wind will allow temperatures to climb a couple degrees, with highs mainly in the mid 80s, but with a few warmer pockets. Dewpoints will remain in the low 60s.

Light south winds will develop Friday night but will then become light and variable again during the day Saturday.

Still, Saturday will be warmer, with morning lows in the mid 60s and afternoon highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Dewpoints will be a little higher in the mid 60s.

Like today, a stray shower cannot be totally ruled out Saturday afternoon, but the chances for rain are very small.

Another Cold Front

Our next real chance for rain will come on Sunday as a weak cold front moves through the area.

Once again, however, the rain associated with the front will generally be meager. Some places will likely be missed altogether.

The best chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms will be later in the afternoon and into the early evening. Severe weather is not expected.

It will be a muggy day with highs in the mid 80s, similar to yesterday.

Winds will turn from the southwest early to the north late. Morning winds will be around 5 mph, increasing to around 10 mph as they shift.

Temperatures will take a more significant drop behind this front as a new high pressure slides across Canada.

Monday will see highs in the mid 70s with a mix of sun and clouds. Morning lows will be well down into the 50s.

Temperatures will be similar on Tuesday, starting in the 50s and peaking in the mid 70s.

There will be a chance for some rain late Tuesday into early Wednesday, but this is highly uncertain at this point.

The rest of next week will mainly have temperatures remaining in the 70s but possibly getting back to around 80 degrees by the start of the weekend. Another front will be possible later in the weekend.
