Weekend Weather Forecast
A series of high pressure systems will keep most of the next week or more dry with cooler temperatures after a warm weekend.
One of these high pressure systems will move overhead today and then off the east coast this weekend.
Return flow on the backside of the high will allow temperatures to warm back up with a gradual increase in humidity as well.
Most areas will be a couple of degrees warmer today than yesterday, and a couple more degrees warmer still on Saturday.
This will place many areas in the mid 80s today with some pockets in the upper 80s. Saturday, upper 80s will be widespread with many of the typically warmer areas approaching 90 degrees.
Friday and Saturday will both have a mix of sunshine and summertime fair weather clouds. There will be just a small chance for a brief spit of rain on Saturday, mainly over the eastern half of the Finger Lakes.
Nighttime temperatures both Friday and Saturday night will average in the mid 60s. Friday night will be mostly clear, while some extra clouds will be possible Saturday night.
Light winds are expected on both days with variable directions based on topography. Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph.
A cold front will drop southeast across the region on Sunday as a new high pressure system builds in across Canada.
With the lack of an organized low associated with the front, the front itself will not be very well defined or overly strong. A few showers and storms are likely with the front, but the chances for meaningful rain across the region are small.
Temperatures Sunday will be a bit cooler with winds turning from the southwest early to the north during the afternoon and increasing to near 10 mph. Highs will mainly be in the mid 80s.

More Dry Weather
Unfortunately, the chances for rain next week are looking meager as well, which will result in our region continuing to see drought conditions become better established.
Temperatures will be lower next week, though, with highs mainly sticking to the 70s.
Monday will start out in the mid 50s with highs in the mid and locally upper 70s. Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds with no chances for rain.
There may be a few showers that skirt through the area later Tuesday with a small chance for more widespread rainfall. While this possibility is becoming less likely, there are still a cluster of models that show over an inch falling.
With our need for rain, this will be something to watch, but not count on.
Temperatures Tuesday will remain steady in the mid 70s after morning lows in the 50s.
Wednesday will most likely be dry with morning lows around 60 degrees and afternoon highs in the low and mid 70s.
It will be more of the same late in the week, with sun and clouds Thursday and highs in the mid 70s. Friday will be a bit warmer, with most areas near or slightly above 80 degrees.
Rain chances look a bit higher next weekend and for the end of August, but it is too early to count on it being much more than model noise.
Temperatures look as though they will remain mainly in the 70s through the close of August, though some warmer days will likely mix in as well.
