Late Week Weather Forecast
High pressure will bring us another quiet weather day today before a small weather system passes through tomorrow.
There are a few stray clouds about the region this morning, but as time goes on today, these should become fewer and farther between. Much of the area will be mostly sunny throughout the day.
Winds will be light with speeds at or under 5 mph. The little bit of wind there is will come in from the south.
Those light winds will help nudge temperatures up a little. Afternoon highs will mostly be around or above 45 degrees.
Clouds will build back in tonight, gradually becoming more widespread and thicker. A stray shower or some sleet cannot be ruled out around sunrise as a more substantial push of warmer air moves in.
After morning lows in the low and mid 30s, with upper 20s in and around Cortland County, afternoon highs will reach their highest point this week. Many areas will rise into the low 50s, while higher elevations in the western Southern Tier and in Central New York stay in the upper 40s.
Skies will be mostly cloudy tomorrow with a few more spits of rain. The best chance for rain will be in the afternoon for areas around and north of I-90 and Route 20.
South winds in the morning will turn to the southwest during the midday and afternoon, increasing to between 10 and 15 mph. Most places should see top wind gusts just under 30 mph.
The wind will turn to the northwest Friday night, leading to some limited lake effect snow developing south of Lake Ontario. Flurries may extend into Saturday morning before dissipating with little to no accumulation expected.

Weekend, Thanksgiving Week Weather
Once any lingering flurries dissipate early Saturday, the rest of the day should have clouds with some occasional glimpses of sun. Winds will remain from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Temperatures will start Saturday in the low and mid 30s. Afternoon highs will only make it to the low 40s.
Sunshine may also be limited on Sunday with a chance for some rain showers late. There is some uncertainty here, and an initial push of some scattered showers may also end up possible earlier in the day.
Morning lows will mostly be in the 20s with afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
Rain showers will be more likely Sunday night into Monday, though Monday does not look like a washout. Monday will start in the mid and upper 30s with highs in the mid 40s.
Tuesday is currently looking dry, albeit rather cloudy. Temperatures will get a slight boost with highs in the upper 40s.
Rain will again move through Tuesday night into early Wednesday, but Wednesday afternoon may end up dry. Temperatures will continue to rise, with highs possibly well into the 50s.
Thanksgiving Day on Thursday may end up quiet, but a stronger weather system may be possible thereafter. Be wary of premature hype with this system, though there is a decent chance that someone over the eastern half of the nation sees some snow on the backside of it.
As always, I will be happy to help you with any weather related travel questions you may have, or any other weather questions at any time.
In an effort to help me keep track of all these questions and ensure I don’t miss any, I have created a new page on my website, Ask Drew! (flxweather.com/ask-drew), where I would ask you go to submit your questions.
