Tuesday Mid-Afternoon through the overnight
What: Periods of rain
Where: Region-wide
Impacts: None-Minor
After a cloudy but quiet morning, rain will move into the area from southwest to northeast during the mid-afternoon hours. After an initial widespread band of rain that will last an hour or two, showers will become more scattered for the early afternoon. Gradually, the radar will fill back in as low pressure crosses the region with widespread rain overnight.
Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s this afternoon, then spend most of the night hovering near 40 degrees. However, as the low passes by during the predawn hours, winds will turn to the northwest and temperatures will drop to the low and mid 30s.
Rain amounts will generally be between a quarter and half an inch.
Wednesday Morning
What: Mainly snow, some mixed precipitation
Where: Region-wide
Impacts: Minor
Rain will mainly turn over to snow by sunrise, though a few warmer pockets may still be rain. Most areas should see a period of snow that lingers into the late morning or midday hours. Accumulations should be limited to a coating to perhaps an inch or two over some higher elevations.
With temperatures staying near or above freezing, main roads should remain clear or mostly clear. Some back roads may get a light coating of snow.
Wednesday Afternoon-Night
What: Spits of mixed precipitation
Where: Region-wide, but especially higher elevations
Impacts: Minor
Low-level moisture will remain trapped over the region, leading to low cloud decks and spits of precipitation. Some higher elevations may find themselves within the clouds.
Most areas will see some light drizzle at times or perhaps a flurry. A few cold pockets that find themselves a degree or two below freezing may see some freezing drizzle.
Temperatures during the day Wednesday will mostly be in the mid 30s, while Wednesday night will dip to the low 30s.

Thursday
What: Cloudy but quiet
Where: Region-wide
Impacts: None
Light south winds and overcast skies are expected, but with no precipitation falling. Temperatures will rise into the low 40s.
Winds will increase Thursday night with temperatures remaining in the low 40s. Some higher elevations will see gusts over 30 mph, especially during the predawn hours.
Friday-Saturday
What: Occasional rain showers, warm temperatures
Where: Region-wide
Impacts: Mud, but not much else
Both Friday and Saturday will have some on and off rain showers. The best chance for a prolonged dry period looks to be Saturday morning. That being said, the rain generally looks light and spotty.
Friday morning will have some gusty south winds before lighter winds take hold during the evening and for Saturday.
Temperatures will push toward 50 degrees Friday, with mid 40s on Saturday.
Sunday
What: Windy, some late snow
Where: Region-wide
Impacts: Slight
Wind speeds will increase Saturday night (southerly), become strong Sunday morning (southwesterly), and peak Sunday afternoon (northwesterly). Top gusts over 50 mph are possible, though uncertain. With a soggy, soft ground from the rain and snowmelt, some localized tree damage and power outages may be possible.
A period of snow is possible with a cold front in the afternoon. This will be followed by a limited response off Lake Ontario for the northern and eastern Finger Lakes. In all, most places will see less than an inch of accumulation.
Temperatures will drop from the mid 30s early Sunday to the low 30s in the afternoon.
Next Week
Temperatures are not expected to be as warm as this week, but it will not be overly cold, either. Most days should have highs in the 30s, though there may be an opportunity to hit 40 degrees as well.
Precipitation, while highly uncertain, seems focused on the back half of the week. Whether this comes as rain or snow or both, it is too early to tell.
