Temperatures will undergo another warming trend, leading into a mini-thaw as highs push toward 40 degrees early next week. Most upcoming daytimes will be quiet, but small weather systems will bring some precipitation Friday night, Sunday night, Monday night, and possible Wednesday night.
Friday
What: Quiet day, snow showers and squalls tonight
Impacts: Minor
Most of Friday will be quiet with sun and clouds. Temperatures will climb to the upper 20s as winds gradually swing around to the southwest, but remain light.
Temperatures will initially drop to the low 20s and upper 10s this evening. Snow showers will move in between 9-11 PM. A few embedded squalls will be possible. Accumulations will stay under 2 inches.
Overnight, temperatures will rise steadily to near 30 degrees. A little isolated, light lake effect snow will be possible southeast of Lake Ontario.

Saturday
What: Mostly cloudy, a few early flurries
Impacts: Almost none
Lingering flurries early Saturday morning will dissipate by midday. Clouds will linger, though some late breaks of sun will be possible. Temperatures will not rise much more, topping out in the low 30s. Winds will be from the northwest around 10 mph.
Sunday
What: Sun and clouds, a few nighttime snow showers
Impacts: Almost none
Like Friday, the daytime hours Sunday will be quiet with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will be warmer than it has been in weeks with highs into the upper half of the 30s. Light southeast winds will blow.
A small system will then pass through during the middle of the night with some snow showers. A little rain could mix in, and no accumulation is expected.
Monday
What: A repeat of Sunday
Impacts: Almost none
Monday will mimic Sunday, with sun and clouds and mild temperatures during the day. Many places should at least approach 40 degrees. During the middle of the night, another weak weather system will pass through with rain and snow showers. It is possible that many areas will not drop below freezing Monday night.
Tuesday through Wednesday
What: Sun and Clouds
Impacts: None
Quiet weather is expected Tuesday and probably Wednesday as well. Tuesday will be the sunnier and warmer of the two days with highs in the low 40s. Wednesday will have increasing clouds with highs ending up just short of 40 degrees.
Wednesday Night-Thursday
What: Unknown precipitation type
Impacts: Uncertain
While very early, there is potential for a slightly stronger weather system late Wednesday and/or Thursday next week. Without a pool of cold air, precipitation types are impossible to pinpoint this far out. Snow, ice, rain, or a miss all remain possible.
Next Weekend and Beyond
The mini-thaw of next week is not expected to linger with temperatures sliding back toward the 30s and 20s. This will open the area back up to the potential for snow, but no specific threats can be identified this far in advance.
It is too early to speculate what type of weather we may end up seeing in March.
