Temperatures will push into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees this afternoon. A stray shower or storm cannot be ruled out, but most areas will stay dry. After a warm, muggy night, cooler air will move in quickly Wednesday morning. Thursday will mark the low point in temperatures with highs in the mid 50s. Saturday is looking especially rainy, with showers likely lingering into Sunday. Memorial Day, so far, looks dry.

Tuesday

What: A few showers and storms

It will be another hot day today with temperatures in the upper 80s to locally around 90 degrees. There will be an increase in cloud cover compared to yesterday, so peak temperatures may be a degree or two less than yesterday. There will even be a few stray showers and storms about at almost any time during the day, though most areas will not see any rain today. Should any storms pop up this afternoon or early this evening, the ingredients will be in place for a couple severe thunderstorms. This threat is expected to remain very isolated, though, and may not be realized at all in our area. Temperatures will remain very warm tonight, spending most of the night around 70 degrees.

Wednesday

What: Scattered morning showers

A cold front will move through early Wednesday morning, causing temperatures to drop through the 60s during the morning hours. A few showers will accompany the front, but not all areas will see rain, and those that do should only see brief showers with light amounts. By the afternoon, the chances for rain will vanish and some sun will poke out between the clouds. Temperatures will rise back to the mid 60s with a steady northwest wind. Skies will clear overnight with lows generally in the mid 40s with a few cold pockets around 40 degrees.

Thursday

What: Sunny, cool

Winds will be out of the north on Thursday with steady but light speeds. Skies will be sunny with a few thin clouds. Despite the sun, highs will only make it to the mid 50s. Clear skies and calm winds Thursday night will send lows into the low 40s. Frost does not look like it will be a concern, though it cannot be 100% ruled out in the coldest of the cold pockets.

Friday

What: Increasing clouds

Friday will be quiet with early sunshine gradually becoming filtered by increasing thin clouds. Winds will be light from the southeast with highs in the lower half of the 60s. Overnight temperatures will be propped up by the cloud cover, but should still dip into the upper 40s for most areas.

Saturday

What: Rainy

The main chance for rain over the next 7 days will be on Saturday. Widespread, potentially heavy rain is possible. The fine details of the forecast, such as the timing and location of the heaviest rainfall, remain uncertain. With the clouds and rain, temperatures may struggle to reach 60 degrees.

Sunday

What: Showers

The remnants of Saturday’s weather system will still be in the area on Sunday. On and off showers are likely, especially in the morning. The afternoon is more likely to have some dry time and breaks of sun. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s.

Memorial Day (Monday)

What: Rather cloudy

It looks as though the rain will be out of the region by Memorial Day on Monday, but clouds may linger. Temperatures will rebound a little and will end up just shy of the climatological averages, reaching a high in the upper 60s.

Next Week

Much of next week is looking rather quiet with low chances for rain. Daily highs will be close to average, which is around or slightly above 70 degrees. As we get closer, some more day-to-day variability may start to reveal itself, but at this time, remains hidden.
