There will be plenty of sunshine this week and only small chances for stray, light rain showers. Temperatures will be warm today with many areas reaching the 80s, but most of the week and weekend will stick to highs in the 60s.

Tuesday

What: Sunny and warm

High pressure is in firm control of the weather today. Sunshine will be abundant, with only some occasional thin clouds, especially late in the day. Winds will be light from the south and southwest. Many areas will see a high in the low 80s today. A few of the typically warmer areas could flirt with 85 degrees, while some higher elevations top out in the upper 70s.

Clouds will increase somewhat overnight with light southwest winds gradually turn to the west. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s and low 60s for most.

Wednesday

What: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray spit of rain.

A weak cold front will turn winds to the northwest Wednesday morning. There will be some clouds with the front but probably no precipitation. As cooler air builds in above the surface, clouds will bubble up and a stray spit of rain cannot be ruled out during the peak heating hours of the afternoon. Temperatures will be warmest in the Southern Tier, where a few areas may still reach 80 degrees. Most will top out in the upper 70s with slightly cooler air near Lake Ontario

Thursday

What: Sun and clouds. A couple stray showers.

Another small front will pass through on Thursday. There is a slightly higher chance for a couple pop-up showers associated with this, but the majority of the region should still stay dry. Any rain that does fall will likely be brief and light and possibly not even enough to totally wet the pavement. Winds will turn to the north and increase, but gusts should stay under 30 mph. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 60s on average.

Friday

What: Sunny

High pressure will build in again for Friday, keeping the weather dry and sunny. Winds will be lighter than Friday, but still holding onto a northwesterly direction, keeping highs in the mid 60s. Some areas will start the day in the upper 40s and then drop that low again overnight.

Saturday

What: Predawn showers

There will be a chance for a few rain showers very early Saturday morning. Most of these will probably be around or before sunrise. The rest of the day looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Northwest winds will increase again, but like Thursday, with gusts mainly staying under 30 mph. Temperatures will be a touch cooler yet with highs in the low 60s. Saturday night will see most areas falling into the 40s, but there is currently no risk for 30s or any frost.

Sunday

What: Sun and clouds

Not much will change for Sunday. Skies will remain a mix of sun and clouds and highs will top out in the mid 60s. Northwest winds will remain, but will be closer in speed to Friday than Thursday or Saturday.

Next Week & Beyond

June will start out on Monday with a few passing showers. Widespread, heavy rain seems unlikely. There will probably be a couple more chances for showers through next week, but like this week, these chances look small and rain amounts may be barely measurable. Temperatures will start the week in the mid 60s, but will add a couple more degrees each day, ending the week with highs in the 70s. Temperatures are expected to plateau in that range, with no immediate signs of a return of the brief bit of hot weather we had early last week.
