Precipitation chances will increase through the afternoon and early evening hours as showers and thunderstorms build across the region. Several days of dry weather are expected behind this system before a few showers will be possible by Sunday. Temperatures will range through the 70s during the day, with 50s and 60s at night.

Wednesday
What: Mostly cloudy. Increasing showers and storms in the late afternoon.
A cold front will approach the area late this afternoon and evening, leading to some widespread showers and storms.
A few stray showers will pass through during the morning hours, but precipitation will start to become more likely as the afternoon wears on. At first, there may be some rain along and north of the Thruway entering the region during the early to mid-afternoon. Further south, showers and storms will start to pop up during the mid to late afternoon.
Eventually, some sort of a line of rain and thunder will develop out of these pieces, bringing widespread rain into the early evening hours.
A couple of isolated strong wind gusts from thunderstorms will be possible during the late afternoon and early evening hours, but widespread severe weather is unlikely.
Afternoon highs will mainly be in the mid and upper 70s, though a few places may manage to get to 80 if some sun pokes out between the clouds. Winds will be from the south and southwest around 10 mph. Nighttime temperatures will be in the mid and upper 60s with cloud cover and perhaps a stray shower lingering overnight.
Thursday
What: Mostly cloudy.
Thursday is looking mostly, if not totally dry. The only small chance for a stray shower will come early in the morning. The rest of the day will be mostly cloudy, though sun will be more likely later in the day than earlier on. Winds will turn to the west, then northwest, around or slightly over 5 mph, leading to afternoon highs in the mid and locally low 70s. Nighttime temperatures will return to the 50s with areas of fog.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday looks dry with a typical mix of sun and clouds. Light northwest winds will turn calm late in the day. Highs will be around 70 degrees and overnight lows will range through the lower half of the 50s with areas of fog.
Saturday
What: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late shower?
Saturday looks mostly quiet as high pressure passes through with a mix of sun and clouds. There is a small chance for a late day shower, with a slightly higher (but still low) chance during the evening hours. Look for highs around the mid 70s with south winds around 10 mph. Saturday night will have lows in the mid 60s.
Sunday
What: A few showers
AÂ quick moving and weakening system will pass through on Sunday. Scattered showers will be likely, but may ultimately not amount to much. More details to come as the forecast continues to evolve.. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
Monday
What: Sun and clouds.
Monday should be dry on the other side of Sunday’s system, though another system will also be approaching for Tuesday. If the timing of either of these shifts, a stray shower could become possible. Look for highs in the mid 70s with low humidity and a light, variable wind.
Tuesday
What: Showers and storms possible
Another cold front is expected on Tuesday, though the details are sketchy this far out. Showers and storms may be possible with highs having a shot at the low 80s.
Late Next Week
Another weather system is expected toward the end of next week, possibly followed by a turn toward cooler temperatures next weekend.
