Memorial Day Weather Notes

finger lakes weather forecast monday may 27 2019 memorial day perfect weather rainy week ahead
The weather for Memorial Day will be perfect across the Finger Lakes. Three days of rain will begin with widespread rain Tuesday morning.

Great Weather Today

The weather for Memorial Day will be about as close to perfect as one could hope for.

High pressure north of the Great Lakes will supply comfortable temperatures and sunshine throughout the day.

Temperatures are starting around 50 degrees this morning. Afternoon highs will be right on the daily normal in the low 70s.

Some fair-weather clouds will develop by the late morning while some thin clouds high in the atmosphere will stream in late in the afternoon.

Even the winds and humidity check out, with a gentle north breeze and low dew points near 50 degrees.

As you enjoy the nice weather this Holiday, please continue to remember that you are able to do so because of the sacrifices, past and present, of the men and women who have fought to protect our freedoms and ensure our peace.

Turning Very Rainy

After today, the next three days will be unsettled with the potential for significant amounts of rain.

First, a widespread steady rain will move in early Tuesday and continue into the early afternoon. Some of the rain will come down hard at times. This may be followed with areas of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening as a front stalls out over our region.

Next, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday as the front lifts north.

This will be followed by more widespread rain and/or thunderstorms on Thursday.

Some of the details of these rain and thunder events remain uncertain, including the timing, intensity, and any severe potential.

Several inches of rain could fall in some locations through Thursday.

Quieter weather is then expected for Friday and the weekend.
