Weekend Weather Forecast
The final days of June will be a bit unsettled, but not before another sunny and warm day on Friday.
Today will likely be the warmest day of June for many locations and some may see their highest temperatures so far in 2019.
Temperatures will shoot through the 60s and 70s this morning. This afternoon, 80s will become widespread with most areas topping out in the mid 80s. Upper 80s will be possible in the typically warmer areas along I-90 and in the broad river valleys of the Southern Tier. One or two places could even reach 90 degrees.
There will be little breeze today, but humidity levels will remain lower than they usually are when it is hot out. Look for dewpoints in the low 60s, which is tolerable for most people.
Skies will be sunny much of the time with just some occasional patches of thin cloud cover drifting through and a couple fair-weather clouds.
This evening will remain warm with temperatures slowly retreating through the 70s. Skies will clear and winds will remain nearly calm.
Clouds will increase overnight, locking our temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s. Showers and a couple thunderstorms will become possible after midnight and will persist into the first half of Saturday morning.
The rest of Saturday should be mostly dry, though a stray shower or two cannot be ruled out. Just south of the area, thunderstorms will fire in the afternoon, mostly along and south of the NY-PA state line.
Temperatures Saturday will top out in the mid 70s for most with upper 70s in the Southern Tier.
Sunday will likely end up cloudy with a few scattered showers across the region at any given time. It will not rain all day and precipitation amounts will be light. High temperatures will be near 70 degrees.
Weather for July 4th Week
July will start off quiet with sunshine Monday. Temperatures will reach the mid and upper 70s.
A weather system will move through the area Monday night. Showers and thunderstorms will become widespread but should not be too heavy. A few of these will linger into the morning hours on Tuesday.
A new area of high pressure will then build in. Most of Tuesday, all of Wednesday, and most of Thursday, which is the 4th of July, will remain dry.
During this time, temperatures will also trend upwards. Tuesday will be in the upper 70s while Wednesday reaches the low 80s. Mid and upper 80s, like today, will be possible on Thursday.
Later in the day Thursday, showers and thunderstorms may pop up as the next weather system approaches. This system will bring a better chance for showers and storms on Friday and into next weekend.
Of course, that is far in advance still, so the details will need to be worked out between then and now.
