Showery Tuesday

The atmospheric set up today is a jumbled mess with a stalled out front, several pieces of energy moving through the atmosphere, and a disorganized low pressure system that will track from the Ohio Valley into the Mid-Atlantic.

This pattern will yield areas of rain across the Finger Lakes today, though a widespread soaking rain over the entire region seems unlikely.

Showers are ongoing this morning and will be with us throughout the day in varying degrees. Most places should see at least some rain today, but also several hours of dry weather at a minimum.

The best chance for some prolonged steady rain will be south of I-90 through the morning and into the Southern Tier this afternoon. This will be possible if a slow moving, narrow west-east band of rain develops.

Rain showers should settle south of the NY-PA state line this evening, though one or two stray sprinkles cannot be totally ruled out.

Temperatures today will vary based on where it is raining at any given time. The best chance for getting into the upper 70s will be along and north of I-90 where some afternoon sun may peek out. Low and mid 70s are more likely further south.

Unsettled Pattern

Wednesday is looking like a quiet day across the region. Sunshine should mix with some scattered clouds after a bit of morning fog in the typical areas. High temperatures should reach the mid and upper 70s.

Thursday is looking rainy once again, however. Low pressure over western Pennsylvania will push moisture into the area from the south. Periods of rain and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day. Pinpointing the areas most at risk is still a work in progress, however.

A few scattered showers will be possible on Friday and Saturday. Neither day should be a washout though.

The next system may swing in by Sunday with a better chance for showers and storms. Unsettled weather may continue into next week as well.

Temperatures through the weekend and into the first part of next week seem unlikely to get overly hot with the cloud cover and rain chances. Most days should end up in the 70s or low 80s.
