As a well-defined disturbance moves into the region this evening, showers and thunderstorms will increase across the area late this afternoon.
Widespread rain and thunderstorms have developed across northwestern Pennsylvania and are beginning to spill into southwestern New York.
These storms should continue to spread east-northeastward into the Southern Tier and southeastern Finger Lakes.
Meanwhile, a second area of rain over southern Ontario immediately ahead of the primary energy associated with this disturbance will move east. Ahead of this rain, additional showers and thunderstorms may develop along the shore of Lake Ontario and track southeast into the Finger Lakes.
Lightning and heavy rain will be the primary threat with both potential sets of storms.
As of 3:30 PM, most of the Finger Lakes region still has a couple of dry hours this afternoon before rain spreads across the region. Most of the rain should exit before midnight.
Areas of fog will be possible overnight behind the rain, especially where it rains hard.
Only an isolated shower or storm is expected on Sunday with a greater chance for storms come Monday.
