Tuesday-Wednesday Weather
I hope everyone is having a restful Memorial Day Weekend. Please be sure to take a few moments to reflect on what today is all about.
In the weather, there are a couple of quick updates I wanted to share, despite not having a full blog post this morning due to the holiday and some extraneous circumstances.
First, a reminder that the weather today and tomorrow will be on the hot side. Temperatures may approach 90 degrees in some areas, especially on Tuesday. It will also be another warm night with lows in the low and mid 60s.
There may be just enough heat and moisture tomorrow to touch off one or two stray afternoon showers or small thunderstorms. Most areas will not see any rain, but a few select areas may. Any rain that falls should be brief with low amounts.
I have been monitoring the weather for Wednesday for quite some time and mentioned the chances for thunderstorms late last week. This continues to be the case with a couple of stronger storms possible. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire region at a Level 2—Slight risk.
Our region has already seen several slight risk designations this year, and there will likely be many more before the summer ends. This designation is for scattered severe thunderstorms, meaning most areas will not see severe weather.
There are still some uncertainties in my mind how Wednesday will unfold. As I stated last week, one important factor will be preexisting showers and storms that develop on Tuesday and move into the area.
Depending on the nature of this activity, its timing, and its path, they could act to enhance the thunderstorm risk over our area or detract from it. It remains too soon to tell which will be the case.
Wednesday looks to be our best chance for rain next week. I will have a full blog post, as usual, Tuesday morning around 8 AM.
