Temperatures Return to Average
A weak area of high pressure has built into the Finger Lakes as the persistent low has finally moved off the East Coast.
Still, some morning cloudiness is trapped across much of the Finger Lakes region to start off our Friday. These clouds should gradually transition to smaller, fair weather clouds with some breaks of sunshine. Like Thursday, sunshine will become more prevalent late in the afternoon.
There is a small chance for a couple of stray showers today, but these will be few and far between. Most areas will not see any rain today, and those that do should only see light amounts over a brief period of time.
Light north winds will blow today with speeds around 5 mph. Still, temperatures will add on a couple more degrees over yesterday with highs in the mid and upper 50s.
Clear skies overnight will allow temperatures to fall back into the mid 30s. Some early morning cloudiness may develop once again, though this is a bit uncertain. Saturday will be another day with fair weather clouds, possibly widespread at times. However, no rain is expected whatsoever.
Temperatures will make a bigger jump on Saturday with highs back to the seasonal averages in the low and mid 60s. Winds will remain light out of the north.
Some clouds may build in Saturday night, keeping temperatures in the low 40s.
A weak weather system has been trending further northeast on the models and may end up drawing close enough to bring a few scattered showers into the area Sunday afternoon. These will especially be possible in the southern and western halves of the region.
Still, temperatures will remain mild, with highs Sunday a couple degrees warmer than Saturday. Most areas should be in the mid and upper 60s.

Weather Next Week
Sunday’s system will be quick to depart, leaving a mix of sun and clouds for Monday. Northwest winds will develop in its wake, with speeds over 5 mph, but under 10 mph.
This should not have much impact on the temperature with highs in the upper 60s still expected following morning lows in the mid 40s.
While the models have trended towards some rain for late Sunday, they have trended away from rain during the mid-week period. This is still a chance this could change, but at this point, dry weather is expected.

If any rain does fall, it will likely do so late Tuesday or Tuesday night.
Tuesday will have some clouds and slightly cooler temperatures. Highs will still be close to average, though, reaching the low and mid 60s.
Wednesday looks sunny with few, if any, clouds. Temperatures will be a touch warmer in the mid 60s.
Thursday also looks to be mostly sunny, with highs jumping to around 70 degrees.
A small disturbance will be possible on Friday with a few scattered showers. Rain chances will not really start to increase until next Sunday night, though.
Temperatures should remain near or above 70 degrees next weekend, but become less predictable thereafter. If anything, though, temperatures look warm in the middle of May, not cool.
