Cold Front
A cold front will push through the area later today, possibly triggering a few more strong to severe thunderstorms before ushering in a new airmass.
There is currently a broken line of showers extending through western New York into the western Finger Lakes out ahead of the front. These showers are in a dissipating stage, though some of the activity in northwestern Pennsylvania has recently strengthened.
Conditions are somewhat favorable for strengthening during the early afternoon hours as this moves into our area with scattered thunderstorms.
A few of the storms may become severe, with damaging winds the primary threat.
The greatest risk will probably be over the next few hours, through 3 or 4 PM. The further east, the greater the chance for severe storms, as they will have more time to organize.
There is a greater risk for severe thunderstorms to our northeast across the Adirondacks and into New England. A Tornado Watch will likely be issued for these areas, so you may hear about that this afternoon. Again, our risk here in the Finger Lakes is lower than in those areas.
Additional showers and maybe a thunderstorm will be possible into the late afternoon and evening.
Monday will be a cloudy and showery day with temperatures in the low and mid 70s. Dewpoints will drop back into the 50s, providing some relief from the humidity.
Sunshine will return on Tuesday with temperatures back in the mid 80s, but humidity levels will remain low.
