Unsettled Weather
Rain associated with a disorganized area of low pressure last night is well east of the area to start Tuesday morning.
In its wake, a weak frontal boundary will remain draped over the region.
Clouds will be plentiful today, but breaks of sunshine should also mix in at times. Rain will be limited to a few stray spits of rain here or there at almost any time today. A rumble of thunder or two cannot be ruled out this afternoon, but for the most part, will not be a major concern.
Most areas will be dry for most of, if not all, the day. Those that do see some stray showers will see just brief rain showers, generally lasting 15 minutes or fewer.
With the frontal boundary in the area, wind direction will be shifting and changing. This will be hardly noticeable with wind speeds near or under 5 mph.
All but a few higher elevations will see temperatures in the 80s today, though it should generally be a couple degrees cooler than yesterday. Urban areas may still make a run at 85 degrees, though. Dewpoints will be in the 60s, so it will feel a bit muggy.
Quiet weather is expected overnight with lows dropping to the mid 60s.
On Wednesday, another disorganized low pressure system will pass by, this time to our northwest. This should lead to an increase in showers and storms, but even so, the activity will remain scattered at most, with mainly brief, small showers.
With south and southwest winds at 5-10 mph ahead of the low, temperatures will return to the mid 80s with dewpoints well into the 60s.
As low pressure pulls away Wednesday Night and early Thursday, a few lingering showers will be possible into Thursday morning. Morning lows will again be in the mid 60s.
Extended Dry Weather
A dominating high pressure system will build in for the end of the week, the weekend, and the first part of next week.
This will result in an extended stretch of dry weather.
At first, the air will be cooler and less humid. As skies clear Thursday afternoon, dewpoints will drop. Temperatures will see a high in the upper 70s with a steady northwest breeze kicking in.
Temperatures Thursday night will back into the mid and upper 50s with mostly clear skies.
Friday will be a near picture perfect day. Expect a pleasant summertime mix of sun and fair weather clouds, low humidity, and highs in the mid and upper 70s. Northwest winds will persist but with light speeds around 5 mph.
High pressure will pass overhead on Saturday and build to the southeast on Sunday and into early next week.
While Saturday’s winds will be nearly calm, a slight southerly whisper of wind will pick up Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will respond by increasing steadily.
Highs on Saturday will be in the low to perhaps mid 80s. Sunday will jump into the mid and upper 80s with a few urban areas flirting with 90 degrees. By Monday, most areas will at least be approaching 90 degrees, if not sneaking above by a couple degrees.
Dewpoints will remain low, however. All three days should have afternoon dewpoints in the 50s, though they will creep upward slightly each day.
The overnight temperatures will rise as well, going from a Saturday morning low in the upper 50s to a Monday morning low in the mid 60s.
Humidity will increase more toward the middle of next week while temperatures stay hot. This will start to lead to some pop-up afternoon showers and storms.
It is too far out to tell what sort of small disturbances may be at play to enhance thunderstorm development or possibly organize the storms into stronger complexes.
Warm, unsettled weather will likely persist through next weekend and into the first full week of August.
