High Pressure Takes Over

A large, dominating high pressure system is building into the region and will stick around for about a week’s time.

During this time, our region will experience daily sunshine and dry weather with temperatures steadily climbing.

Northwest winds ahead of the high will still keep temperatures a bit cool today. However, the bright, sunny skies will give temperatures a boost compared to the rest of the week so far. Look for afternoon highs in the low and mid 50s.

There are a few morning clouds still lingering around the region. These should quickly dissipate with no additional clouds today.

Winds will become calm tonight, setting up ideal conditions for rapid cooling. Frost advisories will likely be re-issued for the northern counties. Just like last night, however, the entire region will be at risk for frost and freeze conditions with lows between 30-35 degrees.

Friday will be sunny with temperatures quickly warming through the morning into the afternoon. Highs will reach the low 60s for most, though a few hilltops will stay in the upper 50s.

It will be a couple of degrees warmer overnight Friday night with lows mainly in the mid and upper 30s Saturday morning.

Saturday will have sunny skies and nearly calm winds as the center of high pressure moves overhead. Afternoon temperatures will reach the mid 60s.

Sunday morning will have temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s, followed by afternoon highs in the upper 60s. A few thin clouds may mix with the sunshine at times.

Light southwest winds will keep temperatures Sunday night in the 40s, followed by highs in the low 70s on Monday. Tuesday will follow up with similar temperatures.

The next chance for rain will not come until Wednesday. The details, of course, are highly uncertain this far out.

Some cooler weather will build in late next week with highs probably in the 50s for a day or two.
