Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds. Scattered storms after 3 PM
The weather across the Finger Lakes is quiet this morning with some hazy sunshine. However, a small disturbance is crossing Michigan and will arrive in our area this afternoon. Conditions will be marginally favorable for some pop-up thunderstorms starting around 3 PM and persisting into the early evening hours. Some small hail or strong winds may accompany a couple of the storms, but a widespread, significant severe threat is not expected. Most areas will probably see at least a little rain at some point, though some of the far northeastern areas around Syracuse are more likely to miss out.
Winds will remain from the northwest at 5-10 mph. Afternoon highs will be around 80 degrees with dewpoints around 60. Nighttime temperatures will drop back to the low 60s. Lingering stray showers will be possible into the overnight, but skies will also start to gradually clear. Patchy fog will also be possible.
Thursday
What: Sun and clouds.
High pressure is expected to build in on Thursday. While a stray, brief shower cannot be totally ruled out, it will generally be a dry day. Skies will be a mix of sun, clouds, and haze from wildfire smoke aloft, especially during the morning. Little to no impact on air quality is expected.
Winds will be from the northwest around 10 mph. Afternoon highs will mostly stay just under 80 degrees with comfortable dewpoints in the low 60s. Thursday night will be mostly clear with upper 50s and low 60s.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds, though once again, a stray, brief shower cannot be 100-percent ruled out. Winds will turn to the north but light with speeds around 5 mph, reducing humidity levels and temperatures slightly. Look for afternoon highs in the mid 70s with dewpoints in the upper 50s. Clear skies and cool temperatures are likely Friday night with lows ranging through the low and mid 50s.
Saturday
What: Sun and clouds.
Saturday is looking similar to Friday with lower temperatures and humidity under a mix of sun and clouds. Winds will be from the north around 5 mph, holding highs to the mid 70s. After a period of calm winds during the evening, a light south wind will develop overnight. Lows will be in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.
Sunday
What: Late showers and storms
South-southwest winds will become steady on Sunday with speeds around or over 10 mph. This will bring dewpoints back into the 60s with afternoon highs in the upper 70s. An area of thunderstorms looks probably late in the afternoon or early in the evening. It is too early to tell what sort of severe threat may accompany these storms, but heavy rain will at least be a possibility.
Monday
What: A few showers.
A few showers will be possible on Monday in the wake of Sunday’s weather system. These will likely be spotty and sporadic and possibly focused more on the morning hours. Details remain sketchy at this point, though. Temperatures will likely be in the mid 70s.
Tuesday
What: Sun and clouds.
High pressure is expected to build in by Tuesday, bringing quiet weather. Highs will likely remain in the middle 70s.
Later Next Week
Rain chances will likely increase late next week, though it is too early to tell exactly when. Temperatures may get a one-day bump as the associated weather system approaches, but generally, temperatures will continue to be in the 70s.
