Cold Front
Scattered showers are moving from west to east into the Finger Lakes this morning out ahead of a cold front.
The showers will be on and off throughout the morning hours with just a few stray spits of rain during the afternoon. A few areas may manage to be missed by the showers.
Rainfall amounts will be minimal with generally less than a quarter of an inch falling.
Winds will slowly rotate clockwise from the south to the northwest by the end of the day. Cooler air will not substantially begin to move into the area until the wind is out of the northwest.
With a very warm start to the day, it will not take much to nudge highs to around 70 degrees during the midday and early afternoon.
Lake enhanced precipitation will develop tonight south and southeast of Lake Ontario. These will be light rain showers that may linger into early Thursday morning.
Overnight lows will only be around 50 degrees.
Any lingering showers will end early Thursday, but clouds will hang on through the morning before gradually dissipating during the afternoon.
Winds Thursday will be light from the northwest with highs in the mid 50s.
Weekend Weather
High pressure will pass through the area late this week and for much of the weekend, keeping the weather quiet.
Clear skies and calm winds will allow temperatures to fall back into the upper 30s and low 40s Thursday night.
Friday will be sunny with some clouds mixing in. Highs will reach the upper 50s. Winds will be blustery from the west, then northwest.
A further wind shift to the north will take place Friday night as a dry front moves across the region. A stray spit of rain cannot be totally ruled out, but the majority of the area will stay dry.
Temperatures Saturday morning will start in the low and mid 30s. Colder pockets will be down around the freezing mark.
Afternoon highs will struggle, and in many cases fail to reach 50 degrees. Winds will be northerly, but light.
By Saturday night, the center of high pressure will be along the New Jersey coast, turning our winds back to the south. Temperatures Saturday evening will bottom out in the low and mid 30s but should be steady or even rise overnight.
Sunday will have increasing clouds with highs in the mid and locally upper 50s. Rain showers will approach but should mostly hold off until after sunset.
Once the sun is down, winds should increase from the south as the showers build in. A front will move through early Monday with a shift in the wind to the west with a further increase in wind speed.
Temperatures will still be mild on Monday with winds not turning to the northwest until Tuesday. Highs should be in the upper 50s, followed by low and mid 50s Tuesday.
There will be another chance for rain Thursday into Friday next week, possibly with some more meaningful rain amounts.
