Early Week Weather

A warm front will lift through the Finger Lakes today, accompanied by several hours of steady rainfall.

The rain will move into the region from southwest to northeast during the mid to late morning hours. By 11 AM, most if not all the region should be seeing rain.

The rain will fall steadily through the remainder of the morning and early afternoon, gradually tapering off during the mid to late afternoon.

Rainfall amounts will generally be between one-third and one-half of an inch.

Southerly winds will increase this afternoon, especially over higher elevations. Wind speeds of 10-15 mph are possible over the hills, but lower elevations may see wind speeds closer to 5 mph.

The wind and rain will combine with temperatures in the low and mid 40s to help melt the remaining snow in areas that are still holding onto a slight snowpack.

Temperatures will not change much tonight, only dipping a couple of degrees to the low 40s. Skies will be cloudy overnight with an occasional shower and some bits of drizzle. Anywhere that manages to keep some snow on the ground through the day may see some patchy fog as well.

Winds will be more uniform tonight and lighter, remaining from the south with speeds near or slightly over 5 mph. These winds will continue through much of Tuesday as well before increasing again over higher elevations late in the day.

Tuesday will be cloudy with spits of showers and drizzle. Temperatures will climb to around 50 degrees for many areas with mid and upper 40s along the hilltops.

Scattered showers will become more likely Tuesday evening and overnight, with temperatures remaining in the mid 40s.

Wednesday will be our day of transition with morning highs in the mid 40s and afternoon temperatures retreating toward the 30s.

Rain will be possible, especially over the eastern half of the region. This should start to turn to snow late in the day, though some lower elevations and typically warmer areas may stay as rain.

Late Week Weather

Snow will fall into Wednesday evening but should move out to the east fairly quickly. Lower elevations should see little to no accumulation, while some hilltops may see a couple of inches accumulate.

Temperatures will drop all the way to the low 20s by Thursday morning. Afternoon highs on Thursday will mostly stick to the mid and upper 20s.

Thursday will be the windiest day of the week, with southwest winds over 15 mph at times. Top gusts will be in the 30-40 mph range.

Some limited lake effect snow off Lake Erie may be scattered about the southern half of the region. Accumulations should be minimal.

Lake effect is expected to be more limited on Friday and mainly outside of our region. Winds will be lighter, but temperatures will remain cold. Widespread 10s are expected overnight with highs again in the mid and upper 20s.

Temperatures will rebound over the weekend with highs in the mid 30s Saturday and back toward 40 degrees on Sunday.

Saturday looks dry, but a few showers may be possible on Sunday.

Next week as a whole looks to be on the quiet side, with a few chances for rain showers and maybe a little snow, but no strong indications of any significant weather. Temperatures should remain at least in the 30s with some 40s likely mixing in.
