Mild Temperatures
A series of weather systems will keep the weather active over the coming days and through the weekend.
For the daytime hours today, however, we will be between systems will mainly dry conditions expected.
There will be plenty of clouds today, but also a few breaks of sun. These will especially be possible during the morning hours with clouds increasing and thickening in the afternoon.
Winds will be light from the northwest today with speeds of 5-10 mph. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 30s to a few pockets of mid 40s.
The wind will turn to the southeast this evening as the next weather maker moves in. Precipitation will spread across the region from southwest to northeast during the mid-evening hours.
Most areas will see rain or a mix of rain and wet snow, but a few higher elevations could see all snow for a while with a coating of accumulation.
Temperatures will range through the 30s this evening, then rise during the overnight as precipitation tapers off. By sunrise, upper 30s and even low 40s are expected.
Thursday will have some occasional rain showers through the morning and midday hours. A cold front will move through by the early afternoon.
Temperatures will peak in the mid 40s during the midday hours, then fall during the afternoon as winds turn to the west and increase. Most areas should be back into the mid and upper 30s by sunset.
As the colder air moves in, there may be some widespread snow associated with the parent low pressure system. This will just be a glancing blow, if it makes it into the region at all, with accumulations of an inch or less.
Areas of lake effect will quickly develop Thursday night and continue through Friday. The snow will be much more isolated after sunrise on Friday. Winds will be from the northwest, so the typical northern and eastern areas will be most prone to a localized couple of inches.
Temperatures will start Friday in the mid 20s but should sneak into the low and mid 30s during the afternoon as the lake effect is reduced to a few lingering flurries. Winds will be blustery, but not too strong.

Weather This Weekend, Next Week
Another weather system will move into the area on Saturday.
Temperatures will rise overnight from an initial dip Friday evening. By Saturday morning, most areas will be in the mid 30s with rain showers.
Like tomorrow, a cold front will move through during the middle of the day, pushing cool air back in and changing rain over to snow. Accumulations will likely be minimal if they occur at all.
This shot of cold air will be more substantial, but also short-lived. Morning lows Sunday will be in the mid 10s while afternoon highs struggle to reach 20 degrees. Areas of lake effect snow are likely southeast of Lake Ontario. For the most part, though, impacts look minimal.
After another night in the 10s with more lake effect snow showers, Monday will see temperatures rise steadily into the low 30s. Lake effect will end in the morning as winds shift and there may be a little sun later in the day.
Another system will arrive on Tuesday with mainly rain showers and highs returning to the 40s.
Temperatures will retreat a bit for the second half of next week, but it will not be cold like Sunday. Warm air may make another run at the region the following week.
As far as snow goes, the chances for accumulations look minimal next week with mainly just some weak signals of possible accumulations next weekend.
