Warm to Cool
Warm air will make further inroads into the Finger Lakes today ahead of a subtle cold front that will knock temperatures back for tomorrow.
Southerly winds will increase this morning, reaching speeds of 10-15 mph and an occasional gust over 30 mph through the afternoon.
With skies remaining mostly sunny, temperatures will respond to the wind by shooting even higher.
Most areas will break into the 60s today, with many seeing mid 60s for an afternoon high. Areas along the immediate Lake Ontario shoreline, as well as some of the higher elevations, may end up just short of 60 degrees.
Most of the clouds today will come in the afternoon and will mainly be thin, insignificant clouds. Late in the afternoon, as the cold front moves through, the clouds may briefly thicken up a bit more. There may even be a couple spits of rain, though most areas should stay dry.
With the passage of the front, winds will swing around to the northwest, but wind speeds will not change much until after sunset.
Temperatures will drop steadily through the evening and overnight, ending up in the mid 20s by tomorrow morning.
Wednesday will be more cloudy than not, though some breaks of sun will be possible, especially in the morning. Winds will be light, coming from the northeast.
Afternoon highs will be coolest in the north with upper 30s north of I-90. Low 40s are likely along and south of I-90, with mid 40s more common across the southern half of the region, but dependent on elevation.
A few late day rain showers may move in and transition to evening flurries. Little to no accumulation is expected for most areas.

More Warm Weather
Clouds and some spits of precipitation may linger into Thursday morning. A few patches of freezing drizzle may even be possible, but major travel issues are unlikely, with most areas staying above freezing.
Gradually, sunshine will increase on Thursday and light south winds will take hold. Afternoon highs will jump back into the low 50s as a result.
Friday will not be too different from today, with lots of sunshine, southerly winds, and highs pushing back into the low 60s.
Warm weather is expected to persist into the weekend, with highs in the 60s both Saturday and Sunday.
What is less certain is what precipitation we may see.
The best chance for rain on Saturday will come late in the day when a few scattered showers will be possible.
Rain is likely on Sunday, but there could be some thunderstorms as a cold front moves through.
Sunday is also expected to be very windy ahead of the cold front. This will be something to monitor both independently and in relation to any thunderstorm development.
Temperatures will return to the 40s behind the front on Monday but may warm right back up again for the middle part of next week.
Uncertainty next week remains high, however, and cooler weather is possible again by the end of the week as the up-and-down battle between late winter and early spring continues.
