A weak weather system will move through the area Tuesday with occasional snow showers and a few squalls, followed by some overnight lake effect near Lake Ontario.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)

Mostly cloudy.

Scattered snow showers

South and southwest winds around 5 mph.

Temperatures on the rise and mostly ranging through the 10s, with the warmest temperatures in the northwest with a downward gradient to some lingering single digits in the southeast.

Morning (7-11 AM)

Mostly cloudy.

Scattered snow showers early, departing to the east.

Southwest winds 5-10 mph.

Temperatures rising to the low and mid 20s.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Mostly cloudy.

Maybe a snow shower.

Southwest winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures rising to the mid 20s with a few upper 20s in the typically warmer areas.

Afternoon (1-4 PM)

Mostly cloudy.

Snow showers increasing. Locally a coating of snow.

Southwest winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures mainly holding steady in the mid and upper 20s.

Late Afternoon (4-6 PM)

Mostly cloudy.

Scattered snow showers. Locally a coating of snow.

West winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures falling to the low 20s with a few pockets of mid 20s.

Evening (6-10 PM)

Mostly cloudy.

Snow showers and perhaps a brief squall. A quick coating of snow.

West winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures drop to the mid and upper 10s.

Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)

Mostly cloudy.

Lake effect snow developing along and north of the I-90, especially across Wayne, Cayuga, and Onondaga counties. Locally a couple inches of accumulation.

West-northwest winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures drop to the low and mid 10s.
