Instead of large rises and falls, temperatures will settle into a zone with daily highs mostly in the 50s and overnight lows in the 40s for the foreseeable future. Scattered rain showers are likely Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with more widespread rain possible on Saturday.
Tuesday
What: Increasing clouds. Late showers.
Clear skies and calm winds have this morning off to a cold start with widespread 20s and a few pockets of upper 10s. Clouds from the northwest will build in and thicken this morning and early afternoon. A stray spit of rain or snow cannot be ruled out, but the better chance for precipitation will be this evening. Tonight’s precipitation will be rain, with sporadic showers from time to time. Afternoon highs will be in the low 50s, though a few higher elevations may not quite make it out of the 40s. Nighttime temperatures will range through the 40s. Light south winds will blow throughout the day and into the night.
Wednesday
What: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers.
Rain showers are most likely during the morning on Wednesday, but a few stray showers could linger into the afternoon. There should be some sun outside of the showers and particularly in the afternoon. Winds will be light, switching from the south to the north over the course of the day. Highs will be in the upper 50s and low 60s. Nighttime temperatures will drop to the low 40s with a few upper 30s as skies clear.
Thursday
What: Sun and clouds.
The day most likely to remain completely dry is Thursday. Expect plenty of sunshine and some thin clouds mixing in from time to time. Winds will remain from the north throughout the day, but generally will be light. Afternoon highs will be in the upper half of the 50s, with nighttime temperatures in the lower 40s.
Friday
What: Sun, clouds, a shower?
Friday will most likely stay dry, but it is not a complete guarantee yet. A frontal boundary will start to push into the area which could set off a few showers. For the most part, though, it will be dry with clouds and some sun. Winds will most likely remain northerly with a high in the low and mid 50s.
Saturday
What: Showers to steadier rain.
Scattered rain showers may develop later Friday night so that they are ongoing by the start of the day Saturday. On and off showers through the morning will transition to steadier rain in the afternoon hours. The position of the frontal boundary will determine who sees how much rain, but locally over an inch is possible. It is also within the realm of reasonable outcomes that the steady rain does not encompass the entire region, or even stays to the southwest, mainly missing the Finger Lakes.
Sunday
What: More clouds than sun. A few showers?
The frontal boundary will likely hang around the region into Sunday, keeping skies more cloudy than not and threatening a few rain showers. Any rain on Sunday should remain showery and sporadic. As long as it stays mostly dry, temperatures should make it into the upper half of the 50s.
Next Week
The main weather maker next week seems to be targeting the middle of the week with rainfall. Details are too uncertain to tell much more at this time. Temperatures should remain fairly steady with highs in the 50s most likely.

I’ve been surprised that no meteorolgist has mentioned the possible danger to the orchards & vineyards with the very cold overnight temps these couple of days. The city folks I can maybe understand, but you’re in the Fingers, where a good grape season is important for wineries, but also for tourism.

I mentioned it several times going back to last week:
Monday morning’s post: “Early blossoming trees and plants will be at a high risk for damage tonight. The growing season has not officially begun, however, so no freeze warnings will be issued by the National Weather Service.”
Friday morning’s post: “Frost and freeze conditions are possible early next week, which will likely damage early blossoms.”
Plus mentions of the risk in my zipcode forecasts: “Early blossoming trees and plants will be at a high risk for damage.”
