The next chance for substantial rainfall will come late Saturday as a slow moving frontal boundary passes through. Temperatures will go from around or slightly above 60 degrees today and tomorrow to around 50 degrees on Saturday. This general pattern is expected to stick around next week and into early May.
Wednesday
What:Â Clouds, some sun, and a few showers.
A small area of low pressure is passing by the area today. Most of the precipitation with this system is outside of our region, but a few pop up showers will still be possible, especially this afternoon across the Southern Tier. Sunshine will become increasingly possible late in the day with skies becoming clear tonight. Temperatures will be near or above 60 degrees for most areas but will drop to the low 40s tonight. Winds will generally be light, turning from the south this morning to the north later as the low passes by.
Thursday
What:Â Sun and clouds.
Thursday will have plenty of sunshine with only some thin clouds mixing in from time to time. Winds will remain from the north throughout the day, but generally will be light. Afternoon highs will be around 60 degrees with nighttime temperatures in the lower 40s.
Friday
What:Â Sun, clouds, a shower?
Friday is generally expected to be dry, but a stray, brief shower cannot be totally ruled out. Otherwise, sun will mix with clouds in the morning with skies turning cloudier in the afternoon. A light north wind will blow with temperatures retreating to the mid 50s. Nighttime temperatures will be in the mid 40s with a slightly higher chance for sporadic showers.
Saturday
What:Â Showers to steadier rain.
Scattered rain showers are likely on Saturday with a gradual transition to steadier rain late in the day and especially during the evening. Most areas will probably see around a half inch of rainfall, but some locally higher amounts will be possible. With the clouds, showers, highs will be around 50 degrees, even as a southeasterly wind develops.
Sunday
What:Â More clouds than sun. A few showers?
Sunday will be a rather cloudy day, but any rain that falls should be isolated, brief, and sporadic. Most areas will probably get through the day without any rain at all. Light southeast winds will remain in place. Temperatures will be a bit warmer than Saturday with highs in the mid 50s.
Monday
What: Sun and clouds.
The weak frontal boundary that will be overhead during the weekend should clear out by Monday. This would leave us with a mix of sun and cloud and highs returning to around 60 degrees.
Tuesday
What: Scattered showers.
Rain showers look possible again by Tuesday. It is too early to tell if these will be an all day affair, or focused more on the latter parts of the day. Temperatures will likely be just a touch cooler than Monday with the increase in clouds.
Later Next Week & Beyond
The second half of next week is looking unsettled with additional chances for rain showers. However, heavy rain does not look to be a major concern at this point. Temperatures will generally remain in and around the 50s, not only for next week but into early May as well.
