After an early taste of Summer Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will go back to being on the cooler side following a cold front early Wednesday. The end of the week looks dry and sunny, but the weekend is looking wet. There is a small chance for isolated pockets of patchy frost Wednesday and especially Thursday night.

Monday

What: Sun and clouds

Skies will be sunny with thin clouds and a few fair weather clouds developing. An isolated shower or storm may pop up late in the afternoon, but almost all areas will stray dry. Steady southwest winds will blow at around 10 mph. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. Urban areas and the broad valleys of the Southern Tier will be warmest and may reach the low 90s. Dewpoints will climb into the 60s, making it feel muggy. Temperatures tonight will only drop to 65-70 degrees.

Tuesday

What: A few showers and storms

Summery weather will persist into Tuesday with afternoon highs about the same as Monday. Dewpoints will be again be well into the 60s, so it will continue to feel muggy. There is a higher, but still low chance for pop up showers and storms in the afternoon and evening hours. Most areas will stay dry, but any storms that to pop up could become strong. Southwest winds will be around 10 mph again. Tuesday night will remain warm and muggy with a slightly higher chance for some scattered showers and storms. Overnight lows will again be in the upper half of the 60s.

Wednesday

What: Scattered morning showers

A cold front will move through early Wednesday morning. Winds will turn to the northwest and temperatures will drop through the morning hours. Scattered showers will be possible with the front, but thunderstorms and heavy rain are not expected. Some breaks of sun will start to poke out in the afternoon with temperatures sticking to the low 60s. Wind speeds will be similar to Monday and Tuesday. Clouds will continue to decrease Wednesday night with lows mostly in the 40-45 degree range, but also with some cold pockets in the upper 30s.

Thursday

What: Sunny, cool

Winds will be out of the north on Thursday with speeds a touch lighter than the first half of the week. Skies will be sunny with a few thin clouds. Despite the sun, highs will only be in the 50s. Clear skies and calm winds Thursday night will send lows at least as low as Wednesday night. An outside chance for some patchy frost remains.

Friday

What: Increasing clouds

Friday will be quiet with early sunshine gradually becoming filtered by increasing thin clouds. Winds will be light from the southeast with highs in the lower half of the 60s. Rain may move into the area after midnight, helping to hold overnight temperatures around 50 degrees.

Saturday

What: Rainy

Saturday is looking like a wet day with a potential for steady, heavy rainfall. It is too early to completely write the day off as a washout, but those looking to get outside will likely end up disappointed… or wet. Temperatures will likely remain in the low 60s.

Sunday

What: Showers

The remnants of Saturday’s weather system will still be in the area on Sunday. Steady rain is less likely, and dry weather may increase by the afternoon. Temperatures will remain locked in the lower half of the 60s.

Next Week

Another round of rain is possible early next week, but less certain than the rain during the weekend. The chances for dry weather will increase as the week goes on. Temperatures generally look to remain in the 60s but could push toward 70 degrees later in the week. The heat early this week shows no signs of returning through at least the first weekend of June.
